Tracking quite low. $40mill OW:https://m.uk.ign.com/articles/2019/03/14/shazam-box-office-tracking-projection-revealed
I'd say probably closer to 70mil, but this is likely due to 1)DCCU not having a great record 2)Shazam being a more obscure character and possibly 3)SH film fatigue, which is going to affect this more do to 1) and 2)
Also, how did the MCU get the rights to the "Captain Marvel" name first? This character goes back to the 40's.
Superhero fatigue is not a thing. Too many SH films making bank.
I think this is more to do with the release date and the damaged rep of the DCEU which is being repaired slowly, film by film.
65-to 75 million will hopefully be where it ends up. The screenings next week need to hit with audiences. I will seeing it next Saturday myself.
SH fatigue might have more to do with people being more reluctant to watch a SH flick they're unsure of or is an unknown at this point after a decade+ of so many SH flicks.
To the layman, Shazam is explained as "magical Superman" and I can see that turning casual people away; while long established franchises that also dumped out many quality flicks won't suffer much from it.
But yea, it could also not be a significant factor at all; can't ignore this possibility.

👆 65-70 would be fantastic, especially with a low budget. Enough to green light a sequel.

Agree. The way I see it though is...
SH fatigue is more about the over-saturation of SH flicks by all the studios jumping on the bandwagon and churning out SH flicks just to make a quick buck.

Campea agrees:
So glad to hear this

Got to see an early screening of #Shazam tonight and trust me when I say you all have to go see it. The trailers may look cheesy, but the movie blew me away. Bravo

I thought the same thing going in. We’re used to seeing some of the best parts of a movie in trailers, but with this one they saved ALL the best parts for the actual movie.
Hahah Sandberg is awesome.
