1. He negated Nth Man. A class 100 guy is nothing compared to that. Moreover, pacifist or not, it shows Aquarian with anull field is still capable of being choked out. And its pretty quick to do so. Strength levels are inconsequential, due to point two below...
2. Was when they were going to get the Cosmic Cube. Energy above a certain threshold gets nullified, not before.

I'm not sure what Aquarian's current status quo is. Even after he was reverted to his Wundarr persona/appearance/abilities by Quantum, he had a few appearances where he seemed to be completely back to being the Aquarian, including the major part in Spider-Man Team-Up#6. The in Marvel Zombies 3#1 and Avengers: The Initiative#19, he seems to be firing energy blasts...he's definitely doing it in MZ3. In his original Wundarr state, he couldn't fire energy blasts, but perhaps his mind just wasn't developed enough to realize her could do that.
Further, in MZ3, his field doesn't protect him from a diving attack by Deadpool, and when he does generate the field, it is a solid field against which Deadpool's sword shatters. After fighting off Deadpool, he then speaks in the third person, calling himself Wundarr, and then uses a previously unseen healing power to purge the virus.
The only explanation I have is that the reversion by Quantum changed his nature somewhat, leaving him to fluctuate between full Aquarian status, full Wundarr status, and some hybrid, with some degree of energy manipulation and adult intelligence.

1. I've already posted them. Whilst he was shocked, fact remains he was still choked out, really quickly. Proving his brain needs oxygen, and you can stop it.

3. He was still using a null field in later issues; ill try and dig them up.

My point still stands, though. He needs to consciously expand it, which takes time. Meanwhile, he will be starved of oxygen.

I always thought it was just the writers getting confused, as they always do....especially with niche characters.

He was full Aquarian mode at this time (later in the story, he nullifies blasts from a weak Cosmic Cube).

Energy below a certain threshold (chokeholds, grips etc) can still work. They just need to be (relatively) weak:
