Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

The film is fun and it gets some things right, but I can see how many would find some of the new characters annoying and cartoonish. The new kid is annoying and didn't really serve much purpose (played by Justice Smith). And the villains were pretty generic, too, but to me the film still works because of some of the emotional beats and because of how it progresses the story. So it didn't hurt my enjoyment much. I'll still probably enjoy watching and re-watching this. I hope.

It was enjoyable. Not a Flawless movie, but it wasn't bad either.

Heard it sucked on RT but from your reg audience member it’s pretty much a reg action movie, nothing to hate

Well that was a pretty dumb prediction.

Its already a hit. Question is if it will hit the Billion dollar mark.

What? A Dumb Fun PopCorn Movie can make MONEY!?

Somebody else has broke the Marvel Code?!

No, Rampage is a dumb fun movie. Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom is a wreck that bored me to tears. This movie tried piggy backing off the last one so hard, that bull flung it to the damn sun. Too corny of lines, support characters that won't shut the %^&$ up, dinosaur rampaging toned down immensely, the villain sucks, and creativity butchered out in the alley as the star monster of the flick that's been advertised so much doesn't even have that many scenes and felt as disposable as a extra pack of raptors from all the previous Jurassic Parks.

And again with the raptor? You have this concept of creating new breeds of dinos by mixing DNA and all they can do with that is smarter raptors? A pterodactyl, a herbivore turned carnivore, something. The chance of the mosasaurus mutating after it ate the Indominous would've been something also. More entertaining probably.

I feel like the movie this was trying to set up for towards the end would have been more entertaining than the film we got.

I'd rather eat a box of shit than watch Rampage
I loved this film the logical conclusion of the dinosaurs finally coming back into the real world after 3-4 horrible encounters/incursions to the park is welcome. It took all of the films for what should've happened in the 3rd one in 2003. I'm glad the film finally embraced the batshit premise rather than keep repeating the same GO TO ISLA X that continued up to this point. At the very least the implications in the end will leave the next sequel as an interesting prospect

Lol @ ranking Rampage above this.

Yes they had the balls to save the best stuff for the third film.

Some pretty bias opinions here. I've seen the Jurassic movies since the '90s myself and loved them especially the previous movie Jurassic World so even I know a bad sequel when I see one. It's good to see the dinosaurs finally leave the island (

Spoiler:
and I won't lie: I felt really sad for the long necks left behind at the shore.
) but I don't see how that gives it's uber cringy characters and writing in most of this movie a pass. The other Jurassic movies have some cringy moments themselves, true, but it's everywhere in Fallen Kingdom.

Fallen Kingdom was much more interested in being an action movie. So new characters were under developed. Audiences expect more than they did in the 90s. If they had developed the new characters more then people would complain about it being boring. And I for one loved the volcano sequence on the island. Would have been a big shame to not have it.

And the villains of the franchise have never been developed all that much. They've always been motivated by greed. People just started to complain about it with the new 'World' films.

It already got boring listening to those dino sympathizers and not one getting eaten for wanting to save something that tries to eat their faces off. Wasn't Jurassic Park supposed be like Jaws? You're not gonna feel terrible watching a T-Rex or raptor eating the villain's henchmen and exclusively the henchmen.

And I for one loved the volcano sequence on the island. Would have been a big shame to not have it.

It was a pretty powerful moment but still falls into my "why does that give the rest of the movie a pass" question.

The villain of the last movie was some merc leader that basically wanted dinosaurs in his ranks 'cause he thought that'd be cool right? That's one thing but this guy in Fallen Kingdom who already has the riches is like that evil CEO from 2014's TMNT. "I'm already rich but now I'm gonna be stupid rich." Ugh.

^ No the company made massive losses paying out damages for what happened in JW1.

Heck even the CEO in that wouldn’t evacuate the park due to the financial damage it would cause.

So selling them in the black market was a good way for the story to go forward.

Why not edit the original post? Putting a spoiler alert below it is pointless.

Could not edit. Made a mistake. Need to be careful when posting from an Apple device.

I just got back from this. I was entertained, I'll admit, but it comes with a caveat. The plot and script are largely woeful, and are for the most part nothing you haven't seen before. My guess is, they got the script, realised that they'd need to get the movie out by x date, and found a director and just said "do your best".

Dude did a bang up job considering what he had to work with. There are some really, really nice shots and sequences in this movie. The variety of dinosaurs is excellent, and for the most part, the tonal shifts work well. I dare say I had more fun watching it than I did the previous film.

^ I'm betting Trevorrow has had at least a trilogy mapped out since he's planning to return for JW3. I know he and Spielberg sat down for a long time to figure out how to approach this reboot series; what themes to stick with, why has it resonated well with audiences, etc.

I also think JW2 will do well with repeat viewings, which I definitely plan to have.
