1958 one wasn't a remake the way you're putting it.

The 1958 movie was based on a short story by a guy named George Langelaan that came out a year earlier.

Yeah, Based on a short story...doesn't make the first movie a remake, normally that comes few years later down the track.

The first would be an adaptation of the short story. This one will be the 2nd remake.
