Order These Races By Power

No one loves the Skrulls.

@bluewaterrider

Still here?

The debate implies activity on both sides.

Do we start tomorrow? Are you ok with everything?

Tell me the time in your area, so at least I'll know what to expect.

90% of the judges are superfriends. Let me be a judge. I could not give a rat's rear about any of those Races. But I will be fair.

That's the beauty if it.

Phildo, a Superfan, is arguing that Martians are better. And blue handpicked most of the judges.

Couple problems:

1. This is a free week for you. Not so for me.
I will need some additional time, regardless of what else is decided.
To prevent things from dragging, I suggest a self-imposed contestant posting deadline of midnight, Eastern Standard Time, March 31st.

2. I agreed to rep Superman and Kryptonians, while you get Manhunter and the Martians. I am more than willing to negotiate, but, without some equalizer for the Kryptonian side, any fight conceivably ends the same way the first Superman fight with Protex did. The group has to have SOME means of going into battle knowing what they're likely to be subject to. Average Kryptonians versus average Martians ends in mindrape without a Kal-El to clue the Kryptonians in to the fact that, say, the kyptonite rings bringing them down to their knees are just an illusion.

3. We need to at least roughly agree on how we're determining "most powerful" objectively. What dimensions am I trying to prove Kryptonian superiority to you IN? Superiority in strength, speed, skill, tech, fighting ability? What?

4. Without Rao as a judge, I'd like to rescind the choice of you OR Delta as final arbiter in case of a deadlock, and just go with Delta.

The above actually sounds like fun. With no "Get out of Dodge" stips, if I get to rep Superman and the Kryptonians, and you J'onn and the Martians, my only additions would be:

1) Burning Martians disallowed.
2) I get Delta1938, Rao Kal-el, Abhilegend, and Digi as judges.
Delta1938, at the very least, but the more the merrier.
You can have Martian Mind and Pr on the judging panel, if you wish.
In the event of a deadlock, Delta or yourself declares the winner.

[Battlezone is] like any other debate, but with limited amount of posts so that it doesn't degenerate into "I'll have the last word, just because"...

Upfront so that there won't be any discussion about this - each individual post counts as 1 overall post. So if you have a reply that has 2 posts, it takes 2 of the overall, and you have 3 left.

I don't QUITE understand what you mean here ...

I suppose this is to discourage lengthy replies, but, does this mean if I quote somebody it's automatically 2 posts down? Or just that I shouldn't use the "to be continued" method to squeeze extra posts in or beat the text per post limit?

Quoting someone in a post doesn't make it count as two posts. If your response is long enough to require a second post, it's a separate post and doesn't count as one.

At least that's how it normally goes in the ones I've read. Even carter posting to ask for clarification in the topic counted as a post(he didn't think to ask for clarification in the topic made to discuss that specific BZ, which would've been allowed without counting as a post).

My two cents:

It's not about who would win if you had two sides on a battlefield, and someone rings a bell to start the fight. So prep, or standard knowledge, wouldn't apply. Even so, YOU, as general, SHOULD know what the opposing team can bring to the fight.

It's more about the 3rd point. You will show how an average Kryptonian is superior (so as he has no invisibility etc, 'superior' here means faster, stronger, more durable, better energy attacks through their HV, better HF etc) to the average Martian. If you wish to highlight skill and tech, that would be OK, but the main argument being made that I, as a judge, would want to see, is in their physical stats - but if out there exists a canon comic depicting objective measures for their respective intelligences, then go for it.

If you quote someone, that is fine. It will count as ONE post. If you use the 'to be continued' method, it becomes TWO posts, and I will disregard both of them.

This is an example:
http://www.killermovies.com/forums/f105/t621902.html

Blair Wind spread his opening, singular post over SIX posts. Not allowed here.

Already covered by Delta and Darksaint, but to reiterate:

a). The debate is pertaining to which race is more powerful on average. They're not fighting eachother. If you feel it would help your argument to address how a fight between an average member of each race would go, you're free to do so, but the main point of contention is the former I just stated.

b). Feel free to define 'more powerful' however you'd like - but you have to be confident that you can convince the judges of your definition.

c). The part with the time is...unfortunate. I literally said in my challenge:

I'll even reverse the position, and argue for martians, lol.

I'm relatively free next week, that's why I'm asking.

Do you really need until next friday to make 6 posts?

yeah, this seems like it's going to work out just fine....

Yeah. This isn't going to happen is it?

'Time conflicts' being the reason, even though a time was already set at the beginning of the damn challenge.

Anybody that is free this week? And by that I mean, we should start as soon as possible.

Same stipulations.

Maybe I know even less about Battelezones than I thought, but, I'm not seeing the problem. Then again, the one Battlezone match that I read before now, which I am taking as a model for this one, is/was "Naijaboy versus Newjak: World Breaker Hulk". One person posts when they have the chance, the other posts when they have a chance. There's the opportunity for some rebuttal of either sides opening arguments, then the judging happens:

http://www.killermovies.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=563690&pagenumber=1

I assumed this was fairly standard; maybe that assumption is in error.

Begin your posts, Phil. If I need to send messages as PMs let me know who to send them to. If it's a thread I need to go to, post the link we need to click on. It's about a quarter after 2 PM Tuesday where I am now. I want at least to get some experience with Battlezone format. I should have a few hours tomorrow to respond. We should at least see how far we can get.

The problem is that I've explicitly said I only have time to post this week.

I need all your posts this week, otherwise I wouldn't have the time to address them.

Then we can cut it down.

One opening post, then....three further posts?

Any format, as long as it's this week.

Oh well.

With this out of the way, I'll update the Superman respect thread, since Superbro and Superdad are the same person.

Expect New 52 + Post-Rebirth feats.

Annoyingly, TurboImageHost is apparently up and running again. I'll assume ImGur is, too, though I still can't get it to work on my phone. Would that the former especially was working last week, but, it wasn't, and with the volume of scans I realized I needed to post to make this worthwhile, it simply couldn't have happened 7 days ago, and didn't.

Despite what anyone may think, I would have loved to have seen the outcome, regardless of how it turned out, 'cause there really wasn't any judgement that could have been considered a "lose", with the exception that there was nothing to show for me being nearly without ability to supply visuals, which Battlezones run on.

I WILL mention that even now it's possible to fit something in the deadline time I asked for ...

If not, I learned some things regardless; thank you to everyone who in good faith contributed their time or a good response.
