Oklahoma lawmaker arrested on child prostitution charges

OKLAHOMA CITY — An Oklahoma state senator was booked Thursday on child prostitution charges for allegedly hiring a 17-year-old boy for sex, leading to calls for his resignation and a separate internal investigation into his years of work with a youth program.

Ralph Shortey, a 35-year-old conservative Republican who has a wife and three young daughters, surrendered to authorities on charges of engaging in child prostitution, transporting a minor for prostitution and engaging in prostitution within 1,000 feet of a church. He was released after about two hours on a $100,000 bond.

"I have no comment at this time, but I will soon," he told reporters outside of the jail. -snip

Shortey has been married to his "high school sweetheart" since 2002, and now has two daughters. He graduated from West Moore High School in 2000, and studied at Heartland Baptist Bible College in Oklahoma City. He has been in office since 2010 and was endorsed by Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio for his anti-immigrant stance, and by Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) for his "conservative principles". In 2012 he proposed a bill outlawing the use of aborted fetuses in food. Beth and Dog the Bounty Hunter hosted a rally for Shortey's election in 2014. During the 2016 Republican presidential primary Shortey endorsed Donald Trump and served as the chair of his Oklahoma campaign. His priorities in the Legislature include personal liberty, fighting illegal immigration and strengthening public safety in Oklahoma. [2]

I find it absolutely disgusting, hoping they throw the book at him, make it be an example for other politicians who want to use their position of power and influence for deplorable means such as this.

How would you respond, and would you call it racist? Hey if you wouldn't then thumbs up, you are actually being consistent. We can then get back to discussing the topic.

It seems like you're pulling a classic Trumper move that they often do with Trump in trying to pretend that the past never happened and every time Trump does something shitty in regards racism, bigotry, sexism etc, it's a standalone issue. But where is the hypocrisy? Nobody said Rob was a bigot. I merely asked if he would find it racist if I made an "Oh Black People" topic and then posted one of the many many many black on black crimes committed.

Judging from his past history I feel he would. I feel he'd whine and say we're lumping all blacks into the same group, etc.
