Qui-Gon Jinn vs Cin Drallig

Fight takes place in the Jedi Temple Sparring Arena.

If you think it makes a difference:

1. Just a sparring match

2. To the death

Standard equipment, start 7 metres apart.

Qui-Gon humbles him in the sparring match.
Unfriendly Qui-Gon smashes him to death in Round 2.

God that's really close.

I'd say Jinn wins barely. Both I would say are tier 8, both are described as master swordsmen, Drallig was trained by Yoda, Jinn by Dooku. This matchup is actually so close.

I mean, Drallig has more extensive knowledge of each lightsaber form, but I doubt that would help too much against Jinn's Form IV. I mean, Drallig could attempt to use Form II to exploit Form IV's weakness in defense, but Jinn has sparred with Dooku enough to know how to deal with makashi I'd say. Plus Jinn has been shown to match Maul in lightsaber combat, who was a Juyo specialist.

Forms mean jack shit when it comes to this fight. I'd say it would come down to experience. I guess Jinn takes the cake here in that he's got more combat experience outside of the jedi temple.

Still, I really can't call it though.

I doubt Drallig is an 8 considering how Anakin killed him in seconds.

Jinn beats him, contending with Maul like that is more impressive than a vague accolade from Dooku, and being better than a weapons master is more impressive than being a battlemaster.

It's... not, really, but in this case it is.

I think so. Maul is an 8. I'd put Jinn on the same level as Maul or a slight slight bit below. Drallig has to be a low 8 at least. Cos Tier 7 duelists are Kit Fisto and AoTC Kenobi, and we can be sure Drallig is above those two.

Maybe you should rewatch TPM

^

I've watched it and read the novel. Jinn matched Maul, and the main reason stated why Jinn lost overall was his age and deteriorating fatigue.

He might be above, but I wouldn't say enough for a full tier - let alone the "cheat" tiers of 8 or 9. Fisto's hailed as one of the greatest swordmasters in the history of the Jedi Order (which is Drallig's main claim to fame) and performed impressively against Grievous, after all. Fisto also lasts roughly the same amount of time versus Palpatine as Drallig did versus Anakin, for what its worth.

TCW Grievous mind you.

He should be around Drallig.

Very true. Dooku muses (grant that this is an opinion) that Grievous would be ****ed if he came up against Drallig in a lightsaber engagement. Maybe Drallig is more like a high 7 or very low 8?

Jinn.

Yeah, I reckon Jinn wins, but in a great fight. In part because Cin knows Ataru very well and may be able to devise a counter for it, although Qui-Gon is familiar with a wide array of fighting styles himself.

I think it can be either brief or long depending on what happens. Jinn has been known to spar with the previous battlemaster Anoon Bondara and actually win in a brief amount of time on occasion. Bondara was a Juyo specialist, and considering he was the temple battlemaster and instructor before Drallig we can infer that he was not only a master of all forms but also comparatively equal to Drallig.

^ Yup.

So... Jinn>Drallig>Galen>>Shaak Ti?

Jinn>>>>Shaak? Meh that actually doesn't bug me that much lel

Shaak is > Galen

And yes Jinn is a stronger swordsman than Shaak Ti. Imo anyway.

Shaak isn't remotely better than end-game Galen, if that's who you mean.
