Terminator: Dark Fate Director on Why He Won't Work With James Cameron Again

^^^i read that earlier.
Cameron seems a bit...set in his ways.

I dunno he seems butthurt over the box office and trying to blame Cameron.

But I stand by my assessment that the only mistake was giving this a $200mill budget. They should have spent $70mill on it at most given how bad Genysis was.

But hey at least hes not blaming women haters.

I've had no problem with either Genisys nor Dark Fate.

And I'm a huge woman hater.

^^^huge women, eh?

😂

Just watched this last night. It... Wasn't very good. But it wasn't terrible either. The action sequences were generally well-crafted, the character of Grace was actually interesting, and the lines that were meant to be funny, were actually funny.

Plus, that's some of the best de-ageing CGI i've ever seen. Period.

The bad? Crap script. The feeling that the person that wrote this knew **** all about the Terminator. Or they just decided to retcon shit and didn't care. The Terminator in the movie itself isn't actually bad, but still after all of these years, isn't nearly as menacing as Robert Patrick was in T2.

Also, the complete absence of tension in a Terminator movie... WTF.

I think its being highly overstated as being "Terrible". The same type of retards that decry the ST as being "overly nostalgic", somehow criticize this for rehashing plot elements, having non white cast members, etc. I'e totally missing the great aspects of the movie. For one the REV9 was a beast, the CQ scenes are the best fight scenes in the franchise, and the de-aging is well done. I thought it was a massive step up from the garbage that Salvation was, and it was way beyond the plot mess Geniys was. Its not something that will go down in memory as the first two, but its way overhated

I wouldn't call any part of the movie "great", but no, i wouldn't say most of it is terrible either bar the script.

Why do people only care about what movies make

Because a studio need to make up the difference of what they spend. At the end of the day, this is a business, if no money is being made, it will be abandoned.

In the end, quality matter little if it’s not profitable. Ex. The new Thunder Cats tv show. Great story, beautiful animation, outstanding voice acting, but the toys weren’t selling, what happened? It was cancel after one season, while trash like Teen Titan Go is a thing. Hell, it got even worse because they now have a kiddy Thunder Cats show.

^ Yeah but whats the point in shitty sequels that make money?

Like if T2 flopped, in hindsight would that have been such a bad thing? We would never have been tortured with all the shitty sequels, but we would still have 2 wonderful classics with the first two Terminator films.

So Quality should always be discussed first regardless of the box office.

I understand your point, but at the end of the day, it’s still business. You cannot tell businessman to constantly pour out money into projects with no financial gains, they will go broke sooner than later.

Of course. But point being its not our business. And quality is a completely independent matter.

That said, quality is also subjective whereas the numbers are facts. And I do find it interesting to discuss, like with the new Star Wars trilogy each one has made significantly less than the previous which is interesting as theyve clearly lost audiences. But from a business perspective it still made a billion so maybe was worth it for them. Certainly making the trilogy was worth it for them.

And yet I could have done without that entire trilogy. So point being its interesting to note but ultimately not really related to quality or our enjoyment.
