Permanent mark on the reputation

Thought of this after reading DarkSaint85's comment in another thread on how Spider-man beating Firelord is the reason FL is not taken as seriously as a herald should be.

Can you think of other fights where character's victory over another character has left a permanent stain on latter's reputation in the long run.
Meaning that examples like "Hulk got choked out by snake" is not a valid example because he is still a legitimate team buster whose "career" didn't really suffer because of that one example. That and the fact that some snake isn't really a character.

Any examples?

Kingpin and Spidey, perhaps? Whatever it was that made us all go, yup, that's classic Kingpin..

Yeah, but Flash has enough showings that we all know its BS (like Hulk and the snake).

OP isn't asking for low showings. He's asking for showings that downgrade a characters entire history.

Kingpin being one of them. Marvel don't make a distinction between classic Kingpin and current Kingpin...but somewhere along the line, there's a clear line between his classic days and now.

Is the OP asking for in-universe or fan based?

Anyway, in-universe Hercules' MoE beatdown scarred him for years, not so much in RL as posters dont use the example with any particular malice.

Batman one shotting Guy Gardner was an in-iniverse running joke among his peers for a looong time.

Prometheus getting nut whipped by Catwoman in his initial outing as a bad guy basically screwed him with fans. Not sure if that was the intent or not, but it was the result.
Batman owning several Hyperclan members (which is to say white Martians) in their inaugural story SHOULD have had the same effect, but it didnt, as theyre still treated as legit threats in-universe/by fans.

Champion's loss to She Hulk? Squirrel Girl and Ka-Zar beating Thanos?

That Ka-Zar loss was so humiliating Starlin had to retcon it to save his and Thanos' linked manhoods. 👆

Gamora getting stabbed by Wolverine when she was distracted

Guardians are still considered high trans to Skyfather on KMC and Cheetah is still upper tier here as well.

I don't think people even care about Cheetah here. But on other boards their low showings are brought up a lot.
