Most atrocious act...

Started by Stoic7 pages

Thanos hunting down and killing his children, mother, and punching a phuck-hole though his father has to be up there.

he dissected his mother's womb to see how she could give birth to something like him and left it for his dad to stumble upon

I recall a scene with Wilson Fisk having a incident in jail, and then having the wife of the assailent raped, to make the guy escape prison, to kill him and ensuring it's all videotapped to release to the underworld.

You're talking about MAX Punisher series. Yes, it was good.

The assailants were hired hobos and made sure to knock all of that woman's teeth out, iirc.

There is also a torture scene in LEX, a French comic that is pretty disturbing, I'll see if I can locate it.

The best is to look outside of Marvel/DC for this thread, yes.

Actually, post crisis Byrne era was full of pretty disrurbing stuff.

Parasite and Silver Banshee were graphically murdering people in horror show like fashion. Parasite left skeletons from feeding on people.

Bloodsport slaughtered dozens of people in one scene, including children.

Even Mxy had some power armored Team Luthor men make like Transformers, breaking every bone in their bodies, and an issue or two later showing them laid up on life support.

Man, thinking it over Byrne or whoever else wrote at the time was kind of worse then Frank Miller on Batman ever was..

And now compare this weak stuff to TWD where the same spoon that bloodied your anus was used to gouge your eye out.

But hey, go ahead and post some of those, sounds great 👆

Yeah, some of shit in Thanos' backstory was...pretty dark, to say the least. I was actually somewhat surprised that Marvel published something like that in a mainstream title.

For those who haven't seen it...

I have LEX on my PC.

I can find that in a few hours.

No wonder Bendis is letting every superhero in the galaxy beat on Thanus...

I don't like that depiction. Thanos has always been said to have been deformed, but it's also be said by Eros that he was in Hulk's strength range naturally and that depiction makes it look as though he was somewhat weak.

They did a good job elaborating on a lot of backstory which was very brief and sporadic.

Death was also made into an actual character in his mini which was lacking for decades. Even as a kid reading his motivations made little sense cause the part of her manipulating him was missing

He was just a kid there, though.

Yeah but still. I'm not saying he should have been as big as he is now, but it seems like he should have kid's sized "stocky" build rather than looking that lithe. It's obviously not a huge deal, it's just how I always pictured him

Going through a lot of changes within adolescence happens a lot. And it's not like he's human, anyway. Mutant Eternals from Titan are entirely different animals, lol.

That was post-death upgrade. in the Iron man comics he was more like Metron who was Thanos' original inspiration

Hey I'm not saying it's actually inaccurate, I'm just complaining cause it's not how I pictured in my head lol

Really? I enjoyed how kid-Thanos was depicted in that backstory quite a bit -- his look totally fit the plot, imo. He was a scrawny mutant/outcast/introvert that the rest of his people despised on some level... This was ultimately one of the factors that started driving him into the arms of Death.

...Though the next time we saw Thanos after slaughtering his mother("many, many months later"😉 he was still a young man, but a lot stockier:

He must've had one hell of a puberty... ermmnone

**And I just noticed in the second scan: there is evidently a "Starlin System" in the MU... Totally missed that subtle nod to Jim all this time, lol. 👆

Thanos' mom 👆

That's the main point here.

Just like the title says: what is the most atrocious/heinous/barbaric act you have ever seen in a comic?

One that comes to mind for me is this scene with Ultimate Red Skull:

F*cking sickening. srsly

Man i will always remember this sadistic scene. Kinda like it tbh....a villain being...well...a veeery bad villain 🙁
