Lol I like how calling out someone elses bullshit now equates to "you are refusing to acknowledge a guys sacrifice because of his religion".

Of course just the fact that I referred to the sacrifice of the guy is acknowledging it, but okay: the guy sacrificed himself and it was a good deed and it is quite sad and unfortunate he is dead.

Actually not all society was shitty at that time period. Muslims were overall quite civilized. I suggest you watch "Kingdom of Heaven" for a small dose of the history of those times.

Again you're equating everything to the "Catholic Church" of the time, and how since that's improved Christianity and Christians have somehow evolved. But did the Catholics following the Church at that time have no brain of their own to think about what they were doing? Did they not stop to think when they were murdering children and raping women, that maybe Jesus wouldn't be happy with this.

Actually no, most Catholics at the time DIDN'T have brains of their own. Most couldn't read at all and even the ones who could were unable to read religious texts because they existed only in Latin within the church. All the people at the time knew about the faith as a whole was what their resident priest(s) told them. And even those local priests themselves had their knowledge of the faith limited by the availability of the texts themselves. The modern version of the bible wasn't assembled and recognized by the majority of the faith until the 1500s.

All of the major religions start out really good in early days(which is why they gain ground in the first place). Then they become really zealous, take everything as literal, and think they're better than everybody else. Then they see reason and start to temper their beliefs/expectations a bit. Relatively speaking, Islam is still somewhat young compared to Christianity. It's still going through it's "teenager" phase when it's got a bunch of hormone induced rage going on inside and wants to force everyone else to agree with it lol.
