Recently I'm seeing how unique our 1st Amendment truly is.

Yeah, it's pretty scary. We should certainly be grateful here in the US-of-A.

I thought it was worth re-posting given that Dawkins seems to be in line with Sam Harris' position on Islam.

For being a religious person you certainly quote a lot of great, well-known atheists. 😉

In that case you should check out what these guys had to say:

"...I became more than ever convinced that it was not the sword that won a place for Islam in those days in the scheme of life. It was the rigid simplicity, the utter self-effacement of the prophet, the scrupulous regard for his pledges, his intense devotion to his friends and followers, his intrepidity, his fearlessness, his absolute trust in God and his own mission. These, and not the sword carried everything before them and surmounted every trouble."

YOUNG INDIA, 1924
~Gandhi

“I hope the time is not far off when I shall be able to unite all the wise and educated men of all the countries and establish a uniform regime based on the principles of Qur'an which alone are true and which alone can lead men to happiness.”

~Nepolean Bonaparte

Neither of those people are exactly bastions of rationality. Gandhi was certainly admirable in some respects, but not completely rational. So it doesn't exactly serve as good evidence for the greatness of Islam. What speaks more clearly about the truth of Islam is how it manifests in practice, and it's horrid.

What do you think about the stuff going down in Germany, like this:

Unemployed Nigel Pelham, 49, suggested Britain should introduce "bomb a mosque day" and invited his Facebook followers to "put a Muslim on top of a bonfire."

He pleaded guilty to eight counts of publishing threatening written material intending to stir up religious hatred between February 24, 2015 and November 16, 2015, at Lewes Crown Court in March.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. 😘

Yeah, I don't think even the 1st Amendment would have helped this guy as he was inciting violence which is not protected by the 1st.
