It can, but the idea that "hate speech" should be treated as violence is absurd.

A potential inspiration for violence should never be equated with the actual implementation of violence.

LMAO! Oh leftists....

Twitter rakes NY Times over the coals for story on the ‘the Nazi next door’: ‘F***ing stop it’

"Indeed, the profile — before the Times edited it — was titled, “In America’s Heartland, the Nazi Sympathizer Next Door.” It profiled Tony Hovater of southwestern Ohio. It said:

In Ohio, amid the row crops and rolling hills, the Olive Gardens and Steak ’n Shakes, Mr. Hovater’s presence can make hardly a ripple. He is the Nazi sympathizer next door, polite and low-key at a time the old boundaries of accepted political activity can seem alarmingly in flux. Most Americans would be disgusted and baffled by his casually approving remarks about Hitler, disdain for democracy and belief that the races are better off separate. But his tattoos are innocuous pop-culture references: a slice of cherry pie adorns one arm, a homage to the TV show “Twin Peaks.” He says he prefers to spread the gospel of white nationalism with satire. He is a big “Seinfeld” fan.

The profile’s author, Richard Fausset, emphasized Hovater’s relatively normal life as a married, working man in his late-20’s. The one part of Hovater’s life that isn’t normal, Fausset noted, is Hovater’s online presence. That is where Hovater spews his white nationalist hate and Nazi propaganda. "

Holy shit they actually first titled it "the nazi sympathizer next door" lmao.

LOL! One of the comments on the article:

"So if this guy gets attacked and injured or killed because of NYT’s profile will they claim responsibility….. will they be held accountable…..

Seems the real Nazi is the one that goes looking for a Nazi…"

MSNBC host says rural Americans’ voting power is a ‘threat to our democracy’

Oh Surt, let's apply context.

The "voting power" the article refers to would would be this:

By 2040, about 70% of Americans are expected to live in the 15 largest states. They will have only 30 senators representing them, while the remaining 30% of Americans will have 70 senators representing them.

The key part of Joy Reid's quote which you forgot to mention was...

The rural minority -- the people @JYSexton just wrote a long thread about -- have and will continue to have disproportionate power over the urban majority.

So yeah, Reid is arguing that our status as a democracy is threantened by the fact that people's voted aren't granted equal weight.

Granting people in a rural state more voting power than people in an urban state is unndemocratic.

But naturally Surt, you just looked at the headline, without actually bothering to read what was under the headline.

Nicely done 👆

You're factually incorrect. The US is a representative democracy. It is explicitly democratic what you describe. What you mean to say is that it is not a direct democracy.

https://followmyvote.com/representative-democracy/

In fact, the United States is one of the oldest examples of representative democracy, and it includes a large central government that has smaller forms of state governments operating within itself. The state and local governments that are created operate in various ways, but they must all abide by federal laws and regulations.

It's very much democratic for states to have both proportional to population and only 2 senate delegates. That's a representative democracy. They get elected by the people.
