If this was a minority actress being cast in the role of a character that is normally white these people would be applauding.

But hey, we will go with this logic then. From now on transgender people are only allowed to take the parts of characters that are transgender. They cannot be cast as anyone else.

I mean, I'd want a gay character to be played by a gay. But if a straight can pull it off, I wouldn't mind.

I'm not against Johanson playing a transgender; if she does a good job I'm fine with it. Just like I was fine with Nick Robinson(a heterosexual) playing a gay character in Love, Simon or Tilda Swinton portraying the Ancient One in Doctor Strange.

While I would prefer it one way, if the actor does a good job, then I don't mind.

I can't even think of many talented transgender actors. A few cross dressers maybe, but not transgender.

Well, she's not in the MCU, but she did gain recognition for Orange is the New Black. Though, let's be fair here Surt, when people hear there's a movie about a Transgender, regardless who plays them, they'll eat it right up. The far left will cum over the movie, the far right will critize it's destruction of values and the centrists will watch it just because of all the rambling.

A movie like Love, Simon and Call Me By Your Name are pretty friggin' popular and successful, despite lacking many well known actors. It's the general theme that draws people in, then the acting, plot and other little details is what makes them enjoy it.
