Is it that she was trying to goad a controversial answer? Is it that she was smiling while asking? Is it the specific topic she's asking about? Is it because she's really asking about the broader issue of US interference in foreign countries with the question of whether "the ends justify the means"
Her demeanor and type of questioning isn't any more or less antagonistic than the next guy in the video. Or for that matter loads of other congressional and senate hearings I've seen such as when Trey Gowdy savages people he's questioning.

So it's about the notion of whether the ends justify the means. It's clearly an antagonistic question, no doubt. But so what? That's what your representatives are there to do.
She could've picked any number of examples. The Abu Ghraib scandal, the My Lai massacre etc
She's asking whether using tactics like that in Venezuela will be morally worth it to achieve a favourable outcome for the US.

My criticism is purely based on the way she asked her questions. It other people do it too it's not an excuse, show me others and I'll condemn it. But she has been in the news so that is why some stories focus on her.
