Further more.

Take two comparable examples.

Count Dankula makes a nazi joke and is charged and prosecuted for it.

Jo Brand makes a acid attack joke and is currently being investigated by the metropolitan police for it.

Both are (arguably) comedians making jokes as part of their comedy acts.

Some people (on both the left and right) were outraged about Count Dankula's joke being taken out of context resulting in his prosecution.

Some of those same people are now demanding that Jo Brand be prosecuted for the same thing.

This current trend of "well your lot set the precedent for it" doesn't cover the hypocrisy.

I suppose one could try to argue one was inciting violence while the thing Dankula did was not.

Thank God Dankula didn't get the dog to roll over. Think how many THAT could have Physically Hurt!!!!!

Not if you're a spectacularly retarded person who would argue that he's inciting people to actually gas Jews.

It's now at the point where comedians are having to make jokes out of explaining why people shouldn't get offended at their jokes... because they're jokes...by a comedian....in a comedy ACT.

Yeah I agree, a joke is a joke... hence why it's deplorable when the MSM likes to pretend Carl Benjamin was threatening to rape Jess Phillips or seriously stated that he would rape her.

This is the world they wanted, now they have it.

The only thing that was offensive about Michael Richards, was how bad his jokes were.

Put it this way, by putting Dankula on trial at least they prevented an epidemic of dog nazis.

Or DID they?

It shows a lack of principles. Being outraged at someone you agree with politically being unfairly prosecuted then shrugging your shoulders when someone you disagree with gets the same treatment shows you don't actually care what happens to either of them. You just want to use it as a weapon to bash your political "enemies".

I assume their point is, if it was a crime when Count Dankula did it, then it's a crime when Jo Brand does it.

Yes, that's their argument. The stupidity lies in their differing reactions to each.

If they had any principles and they argued Dankula should be prosecuted then they should accept Jo Brand should be too. Personally I think it's ****ing idiotic and I think neither of them should be prosecuted. The only influential people I've seen making that argument are Ricky Gervais and Jonathan Pie. Both left wing comedians.

I guess maybe I'm shrugging cuz I'm hoping this will be a wake up call and lead to both sides stopping this shit.

I do not believe weed should be illegal. But if the cops are gonna arrest me for having it and my neighbor has it too they should be arrested. It doesn't mean I'd rat them out, it just means that I would object if police discovered them with weed and did nothing even though they arrested me for it. Maybe that is wrong, idk, but I just am tired of only one side getting treated a certain way.

I agree. I don't agree with Sargon on much of his political views but the way in which his statements were portrayed was moronic.

So is the way some people are comparing Jo Brand's comments to Nigel Farage's about donning khakis, picking up a rifle and heading to the front lines. These are outwith the point though.

Which isn't what X said compared to what Y said. It's how people are reacting diffently to the comments based merely on whether they agree with a person's political leaning or not.

Can't remember which comedian said it but it sort of applies here

"Cancer isn't funny...jokes about cancer are funny"

what if hitler had gotten cancer though

Guess that would depend on when.

It's fatal butt cancer, August of 1939.

His butt gets invaded by cancer before he even invades Poland?

Poor Hitler. He'd only killed like a tiny bit of Jews at that point.

Only, I haven't seen any of the people who argued that CD should be prosecuted doing the same thing here. they seem to be going "it was just a joke".

Personally, I think both were jokes. but, if you're going to prosecute one, you better prosecute the other.

The BBC literally defended her lol. They are supposed to be neutral. I wonder if they defended Sargon. Or Dankula.

Btw they also brought a baby trump blimp into their studios not too long ago.

It is disturbing some people read 1984 and thought "this is a good 'how to' manual". Then I guess they read another book, saw "all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others" and thought "Eureka!".

How many have you seen that were angry about Dankula being prosecuted but are now calling for Brand to be prosecuted?

How dare they prosecute Count Chocula.

Prosecute that other guy, dammit! You know, THAT guy.
