In favor of the left.
The reasoning:
The left is much more organized, and has groups in every major city.
They are strong at recruitment, while the right just sits backs and waits for people to come to them.
They devote a lot of money and research to locating and identifying enemies.
They train their members, meaning they're all on the same page about knowing how to respond to any (foreseeable) given situation.
This didn't seem to be a lefty, but a person who enjoys studying the far left and far right factions.

You're right about both. And that's a terrible thought.
It will workout like this:
Antifa peeps get shot for attacking people. Someone dies. Perhaps many Antifa people will die in this first counter-attack.
Antifa brings guns to their next criminal terrorism/pro-fascism* event.
Now there are armed thugs and armed law abiding citizens on both sides.
An actual Civil War vis-a-vis city-warfare breaks out during a confrontation.

That person was woefully biased. They are highly disorganized, incompetent, untrained for pretty much any situation, are weak, mostly out of shape youngsters, and among the most ignorant but ragey groups in the US.
There are actual militia groups who are training for this exact situation.
10,000 Antifa babies won't be able to stand against even 50 of these militia personnel.

...and yet, I've seen many others videos that highly favor the right in the event of a civil war breaking out. I actually posted a link to a really good one in my "Who would win the second civil war?" thread a month or two ago (still on page 5 or 6 on GD forum, I believe).
But, by all means, hold onto your security blanket if it calms your fears and helps in giving you a false sense of security, dude. If war ever does break out between the right and left reality is gonna smack you upside the head and beat you the f*** down just like it did in the 2016 election and I'm sure it will again in 2020 election. 👆

Naturally, major (And understandable) backlash, and staff will be forced to take sensitivity classes.
Leading to my question: Is this (fairly common place) thing in business all about the money? Bad pr leads to less sales, less sales mean more money, angry stake holders, etc.
Or is there some other angle I'm not aware of? (I don't know, some kind of federal funding at stake..?)

Yes, it's all about the money. Has nothing to do with being righteous or doing the right thing.
The outrage lobby has lots of power despite being opposed by a much larger percentage of Americans. It is because they are so loud. And people like to pretend they are righteous, too.
That's a dichotomy that I cannot wrap my mind around. But it exists.
What would happen if a company owned their bigotry and wasn't apologetic for it? Depends on where that business is located and what exactly they are taking a stand against.
Also, there is a very large difference between saying homophobic things and making anything LGBT+ illegal. I support being able to say whatever you want about a gay dude. But you better not infringe on that gay dude's rights to do gay things with other consenting ADULTS.
So this game? Yeah, let them make homophobic games. I'll take a look at this game, now. 🙂

Imo, it's going to crash and burn within 12-18 months after launch, people are not going to want to pay a monthly fee for long just to air their Far/Alt-Right grievances, racist rants and/or conspiracy theories about the Clintons, but that has to do with internal management and not outside forces.
