Here is the thing, this was not some dude running for office. The guy wasn't putting himself on a pedestal or anything like that so there was no valid reason to go dig through 8 years worth of tweets. Maybe a quick check over tweets from the last 8-12 months, but it shouldn't go beyond that.
And if it is standard procedure to go back nearly a decade through someones social media how is it the paper didn't apply this to the people they hire?

MARIANNA, Fla. (WTXL) — A misheard word led authorities to evacuate Marianna High School Thursday morning.Wednesday afternoon at Marianna High School, a student’s family member called a staff member stating the student had items in their book bag that were inappropriate.
The caller stated the student had a “bong” in the book bag, however the Jackson County School District say the word was misheard, prompting an emergency evacuation.
“The investigation has determined the staff member misheard the word during the telephone conversation,” officials wrote in a press release.
Instead of “bong,” the staff member apparently heard “bomb.” There’s a clear difference between the two: A bong is a tool used to smoke tobacco or marijuana while a bomb is a deadly weapon.
“Superintendent (H. Larry) Moore thanks the quick action by all Marianna High School administration and staff as we strive to keep our students safe,” officials wrote in a news release.

It wasn't true bible-believing christians who committed atrocious acts during the crusades (which were only started because of islamic aggression, btw). They were roman catholics.
And it certainly wasn't true bible-believing christians who committed tortorous acts during the Inquisitions. In fact, real christians made up most of those who were tortured and murdered at the hands of roman catholics because true christians were teaching the true gospel which the jesuits called "heresy" punishable by death. True christianity has never been responsible for such unspeakable horrors. True christianity is what Jesus taught and Jesus never taught people to commit acts like what happened during crusades and the Inquisitions... ever. Period.
True christianity has never needed to reform because it is flawless in what it teaches. 👆
