Welp, if you guys don't see me around for a while, probably at least partly due to this:

https://www.thesouthafrican.com/news/eskom-stage-6-load-shedding-announced/

And this comes after our dipshit president spent the last few months going about all over the world and doing the proverbial, "Everything is fine here. Move along. Nothing to see here."

And I am posting this here because I am triggered by this. Because, despite their excuses, this is a long-term issue that is largely due to corruption and mismanagement and I have lost 5 working hours today alone because of this crap. So, anyway, farewell. I am off to find some candles.

Sounds worse then India, a friend there is always at the mercy of planned power outages.

Lol

She is clearly better at this lying stuff than Trump. She even took a photo of herself sitting and waiting for apologies like a proper Millennial who needs a participation trophy.

Is she better though? The only people who didn't see through it seem to be members of her cult.

IOW: AoC gets Amazon to bend the knee and her critics meltdown. Next on channel two.

^Called it 🙂

Forgot to include a trigger warning before posting AOC's name. My careless error.

Eh, I got fed up and bought an inverter. Kinda expensive but worth it in the long run. Keeps the core things on when the power goes off.

They do know better. Aulmnx represents both Alumnae and Alumni. Using one word that represents two words is much more efficient than writing both out every time.

No, no, it's nothing like that, it's about Social Justice Warriors, intersectionality and feminism. Duh.

By all means, what is the SJW angle here?

Some languages like Spanish have two versions of a word depending on whether the subject is a man or a woman.

The suffix x is used to represent both gendered terms.

People use Latinx, for example, to refer to a group of men and women of Latin descent, so they do not have to constantly address them as "Latino and Latina."

It is no different than using people instead of "ladies and gentlemen," or they instead of "he and she."

I don't understand what point you're making, here.

Is it the alumni/alumnx thing?

Yes, alumni is already gender neutral. Is that your point?

Edit - Oh, saw Adam's post. Apparently, I had no idea that alumni was for plural male. All the women around me thought the same. We are all idiots, it would appear.

I asked the English Lit major (she works in asset management because, hey, English Lit is still a degree and you can get a decent job with any 4 year degree) and she said it's going out of use which is why idiots like me and all my coworkers only use "alumni."

Some shitposting, I was just noting a totally silly and unnecessary change made in the name of progress.

The question is why? Was there legit confusion in this department that caused the change? Why do you think this was done now, in current year?

EDIT: Cuz yes, most people think alumni can apply to both genders(all two of them). My question is what spurned this correction?
