I pointed out we never talk about whether immigrants are paid equitably. An immigrant comes to me and says "Why should we be paid equally? Let the businesses make a profit, I guerentee they're (we) paid better here then over there."
Now that's interesting.
Is this person talking from a "Don't upset the apple cart" point of view? Afraid equity would lead to a downturn in immigrant demand?
Or is there something else going on here? Are some immigrants being paid to recruit, perhaps? Is there an "elite cabal" of immigrants who are complicit in allowing companies to create "domestic Chinese sweat shops", and are paid well for the privilege?

Let the businesses pay their employees whatever they want. The employees and the employers have a mutual contract of employment with each other and the state should not interfere with it.
Authoritarian Left:
All employers should pay their employees a minimum wage of $15 an hour and adjust for standard of living. If a business cannot afford to pay their employees this $15/hr+locality adjustment, they should not be in business.
Reality:
The libertarians open the door for slave-labor-like scenarios, illegal immigration, and exploitation and human trafficking of the disenfranchised such as immigrants. The Authoritarian Left demands unrealistic pay that over half of employers will not be able to afford without stifling capital investment and innovation. This will cripple the economy. This will cause massive job loss. This will cause massive poverty.
Better Solutions:
1. Controlled immigration enforcement to prevent exploitation of immigrants and human trafficking. This should be a function of the US Military. Dissolve ICS and the ATF. End the drug war.
2. Explicit labor laws that do not allow children to work in harsh conditions (let 10+ years children work if they can pass tests proving their competency in whatever field they want to work in non-blue collar jobs), healthy working hours, healthy breaks, healthy vacations, etc.
3. A minimum wage that is at the national poverty level. On purpose.
4. Implement an affordable universal healthcare solution. Medicare For All + copays.
5. A universal Basic Income below the federal poverty level. The payouts would be "graduated" based on income until a certain income level will eliminate the UBI.
