The Stock Market doesnt care about your feelings or identity politics

Since Mitch recessed the Senate until November 8th, I'm shocked the stocks didn't tank even more than 200 points.

Trump and the GOP were really hoping for a COVID relief bill so they could have a win fresh in the minds of the voters. The Dems, using the American people as hostages, refused to play reasonably.

Trump said he would sign a bill that offered every tax payer $1,200, immediately. So who is against that? Both the GOP and the Dems refused to produce the simplest of packages like that. It's super shitty.

I mean the Democrats put out multiple bills over the summer through the House. They've been sitting on Mitch's desk for awhile now.

It's like they held them hostage and then tried to blame the Democrats for holding up things even though a bill could have been passed months ago.

Also if you think a quick 1200 dollar pay out to people is going to keep them from going into poverty during this then you don't know how little that goes today. For most people that is maybe one month's worth of food and rent and utilities if they are living really conservatively.

You're aware that the dems have also been rejecting the other sides stimulus bills, right? this hasn't been a one-way street. none of them are looking out for the people in need.

You mean the ones that didn't include continued Covid-19 checks for those who suffered unemployment during Covid-19.

The ones that included the same loopholes larger corporations abused the small business loans. The ones that would barely help anyone except those least effected by Covid-19?

It hasn't been a one way street but don't pretend the the bills have been of equal quality.

Yes, let's not pretend that the dem bills were pure Covid relief and nothing else. let's also not pretend that the dems didn't sign off on the last corporate bailout.

It's the same scam that Republicans used to get the tax cuts passed. Like it was going to solve income inequality woes.

Instead it just put an extra grand or two per year back into most people's pockets but now with severely limited safety nets. Also everyone should have known it was going to get eaten away by inflation within a half decade.

The gop likes to offer the equivalent of pissing on you when you're on fire and pretending they saved the world even though you're still burning and theirs a fire house right next to them.

It's part of the 'bread and circuses' tactics. Give you just enough to give you the illusion that you're doing okay. But hey, Trump swears his tax reform hurt him (and people like him) and it just helped the "little guy". He said so.

The pissing comment reminds me of 'trickle down economics'.

Grrr those gosh darn evil Republicans.

Speaking of, market is having another terrible day thus far. Dow is down around -800 points. Hopefully it recovers at least some. 🙁

Did you read any of those bills? Or an honest executive summary of those bills?

When the president asks you for a simple bill that gives every tax payer x amount of dollars for COVID-19 economic relief, and he'd sign it immediately, what should you do as a US Senator? Should you sneak in 1,001 ear marks into a large money-printer bill? Or should you give a simplistic relief bill?

This would be the exact opposite of the truth. I posted about this, before, including the details of the bills. We know exactly what happened: the Dems are pretending to want to play ball but they are not. The Dems are acting like a caricature of the GOP.

Do you support a relief bill for special interests and corporations like the Dems are trying to pull? Or do you support a relief bill for just taxpayers and allow tickle-up economics to work?

If you think withholding a relief bill from the American people, just because it won't go a long way, is an appropriate response to defend the Dems atrocious behavior, then you don't understand how damaging the lockdowns have been on poor people.

Correct. 👆

Usually, we can point out the GOP doing stupid shit like trying to sneak in benefits for their corporate buddies.

Bingo.

The stock market has put in a top and an ‘enormous’ bubble has already burst, says David Einhorn

The top is in for the U.S. stock market after an “enormous” bubble in technology stocks popped last month, Greenlight Capital founder David Einhorn warned in a letter dated Oct. 27 to investors reviewed by MarketWatch. -snip

Wowzers

As of right now, down 767 points.

Oil and Gas stocks are down across he board. My company, thankfully, is very much insulated from this damage. But it is still hurt by this.

Not looking good. This is the worst scenario for Trump, days before election day. This may be the key to Trump losing, at the voting stations.

As of close today:

Dow lost -943
S&P 500 lost -119
Nasdaq lost -426 (Thank you Republicans)

Market had another HUGE crash today, that's three days in a row; that's a trend. Ooof.
