Not really... the GUY put his life in danger. If there were no guns and the guy still could have stabbed him or hit him with his car. A vengeful person ready to kill will FIND a weapon to do it. When you get right down to it the fact that the guy used a gun instead of bunch of rapid knife thrusts or a pickup truck was pretty lucky for the judge.

Yeah but what's your plan on removing every single gun in the country other than the cop's? If it were that easy the criminals(who aren't allowed to have guns) would already be gunless. Also if people are right about Trump being Hitler, wouldn't that mean the country is pretty much screwed just as Germany was once Hitler took everyone's guns?

They're armed with guns because guns make it a ranged battle and a gun will kill a guy brandishing a gun before he get's close enough to be a threat. Same thing with vehicles, a good shot can shoot out tires or even take out the driver. Knives and cars are more effective at taking out people WITHOUT guns, they fair poorly against people who have them.
