Originally posted by RobtardI agree on Iron Man, sad the best Marvel movie is the first. I liked GoG 1 very much, I think though it is what caused the unfortunate move to comedy in Marvel, mind you. For me Winter Soldier is superior to GoG 1 and Civil War matches it. The first Avenger and GoG 2 are bad. I am not a fan of GoG3 but it is clearly a well made film, it just fills all the worst tick boxes for MCU cliche.
Also do like that Trilogy a whole lot, but GotG is a bit better, imo.Ironman (2008) still the best single film though. They got that perfect for a comicbook film.

The First Avenger wasn't as good as TWS and TCW. That's the weak link in that trilogy.
Iron Man, not Ironman. You want Ironman, then participate in a triathlon 😛 But fuck yes, that movie was flawless 👆

While kinda sad, it's also not unusual for the first film of a series to be the pièce de résistance.
Originally posted by RobtardThis is true, but usually series are single or same group protagonist and linear, I'm not sure this applies to expectations for often tenuous related stories like Shang Chi.

They dropped the ball on the Iron Man filmsi liked the first one, Even somewhat the 2nd movie (well i enjoyed some of it)...but that 3rd one...ugh
I agree 100%.
Enjoyed Stark much better in the team movies or even guest appearances rather than IM2 / IM3.
And yes, IM3 was easily the worst. Warren Ellis' Extremis comic book story arc was tailor-made for a movie adaptation and Shane Black managed to ruin it somehow.

i remember one of the writers, I think it was that Drew Pearce questioning the Pepper pots subplot from it. When adapting the story when talking about the film after its been out
just stfu and adapt the story, There's a reason why its considered one of the best Iron Man stories.

The way Ellis wrote Extremis... hell, even the way it was drawn... it *should* have been ridiculously easy to transfer to the big screen.
And it should have been significantly better than IM2. Alas, it turned out to be much worse.
