Because that logic would apply to statues. Statues are things. They are not actions, events, or people.
The whining over statues is about the *history* of the person the statue is based on. But as you specifically agreed with: events and actions and actual people are history. A statue is not any of those things. Nor is a name on a building.
And this likewise means people can stop whining the national anthem is racist or whatever. After all, it's not history. They need to cease that, agreed? You agree with that right? Because if you don't you must think indeed actions and events and people are not the only history.

What bugs me is that stuff that isn't sexist at all is now said to be sexist merely if the person you say something about has a vagina(as opposed to something specifically about gender, like "women belong in the kitchen" is actually sexist, insulting someone with a vagina, in general, is not). Buddy, you're ignoring the roots of both and the historical context. "White Power" was about racial superiority over other "races" deemed inherently inferior. "Black Power" started as a moment to achieve social equality in a time when Black Americans were second class citizens (eg segregation laws).
When Tommie Smith and John Carlos did the Black Power salute in the Olympics, it wasn't a "we black man are racially superior to others" thing; not even close. It was about equality and unity.
And I do agree with you there, I always laugh on the inside when people find their racial background and/or their nationality to be the highest point of pride in their lives, when as you noted, they did nothing for either except slide out there mother's quim and she was doing all the pushing. Find something you actually had to do something for and put effort in to be proud of (imo, of course).
