Picking X-Men's Rogue from the arc where she fought Exitar the Celestial World-Crushing Judge probably would have done it. I debated going that route myself. Then again, judging simply from the name, you probably DO have something like that in mind.

That's why the judging would have been arbitrary.
1. Full stoppage of Exitar ultimately required the help of Death Seed Sentry to completely halt his descent and Thor with Jarnbjorn (or whatever the name of his deus ex machina ax was) to end Exitar for good. Exitar could not be reasoned with or dissuaded from the murder of billions by winning a simple strength contest, and Marvel doesn't rank Rogue QUITE high enough to allow her that privilege anyway. Somebody would surely argue that, because she needed assistance to fully succeed, Rogue STILL didn't have the ability to hang with the DC powerhouses

2. They would argue Rogue was TOO powerful in that arc, classifying fully at that point as a trans-tiered character.
Rogue had or has the ability to express powers from people previously touched throughout her history to this point, though. And had or has the ability to control how debilitating her physical touch is to other people. Would have made a VERY interesting opponent in this tourney considering Hulk, Wonder Man, Thor, and Professor Xavier count among her contacts.
