"Being a very private person when it came to all things not cake, she did not want to put her illness out there to the public.

The lead singer of the British band Gerry and the Pacemakers died on January 3 after a short illness. He was 78. Marsden and his band came to fame in the early 1960s with hits including "Ferry Across the Mersey" and "You'll Never Walk Alone." The singer's daughter, Yvette Marbeck, said that her father went into the hospital on December 26 after tests showed that he had a blood infection that had traveled to his heart. "It was a very short illness and too quick to comprehend really," she told the Press Association. "He was our dad, our hero, warm, funny and what you see is what you got."

The actress, who was best known for her appearance as a Bond girl opposite Roger Moore in 1985's A View to a Kill and for playing Midge Pinciotti on That '70s Show, collapsed at her home on Christmas Eve after walking her dogs. She was taken to the hospital and put on a ventilator. While her rep initially claimed she died on January 3, Roberts’ partner, Lance O’Brien, later learned while filming an interview with Inside Edition on January 4 that she was still alive. News broke on January 5 that Roberts ultimately didn’t recover and had indeed passed away.

Actress Marion Ramsey, who was best known for her role in the "Police Academy" films, died Thursday, her manager Roger Paul confirmed to CBS News. No cause of death was given. She was 73.
"Ms. Ramsey's infamous voice was emblematic; soft-spoken, unique and gentle, equally fitting her golden generous spirit, and humorous disposition," Paul said in a statement. "Her passion for performing and sharing her heart with the world was immense."
Dearon “Deezer D” Thompson, the actor who portrayed nurse Malik McGrath on the beloved NBC medical drama ER, has died at the age of 55.
On Friday, news broke that the actor had passed on Thursday, January 7, after being found unresponsive at his Los Angeles home. It is believed Thompson died from a heart attack, though an official cause of death has not yet been disclosed. He previously underwent open-heart surgery in 2009 to replace an aorta and fix a leaky heart valve. Thompson's brother confirmed the news with a post on Instagram, which he captioned "My Big Brother! God is with you. I will miss you."
