Yeah, kind of does invalidate your opinion if your opinion on what to do is based on false facts.
"AR-15s are automatic assault weapons and should be banned" is an example.
To the mind of a liberal, that gun example passes because of the intent behind it.
E.g., getting gun violence under control is all that matters. If deception works, so be it.
This is really how many liberals think. Just look at the Farrakhan debacle, and how certain people on the left excuse those who associate with this anti-semite as excusable on the basis of their history of social activism.
Facts are simply one more tool in your arsenal, to be used in conjunction with strategic lies or whatever works to persuade people on any activist issue.
