I do think there is a chance of a connection. It's quite awful. People need to stop and think about their rhetoric.

Asking someone a question based on a belief they previously made isn't politicizing the situation.

The intent behind your question is rather obvious.

The intent was to see if a belief on an issue was held evenly across different but similar situations. ie Should people in power be responsible with that they say, because what they say can have consequences

Apparently this guy had a vendetta against this newspaper and has threatened to shoot it up before in the past. He sued the paper in 2012 for defamation but was thrown out because "the article was based on public records and [the suspect] presented no evidence it was inaccurate."

You're just upset that someone recognized your attempt to use the shooting to score points against someone you disagree with politically.
