Mass Shootings in America Thread

I do not particularly care about mass-shootings in America anymore, so I don't keep up with the 'news'.

What is being discussed here? Problems with media's coverage of the shooter's political leanings? This is nothing new. That's a separate topic from the issue of mass-shootings.

My stance is that guns are too easy to obtain in United States. State laws do little to mitigate it as anyone (like this guy) can go to a neighboring state to obtain one.

That said, I doubt the Federal government will ever be able to make a serious dent in gun control as it would require over-riding the individual rights of states to govern themselves.

So I don't see this issue going away anytime soon without a major overall in the constitution and the tenth amendment in particular.

That's all I have to offer

I check Twitter, and there's shootings often sometimes, like now.

I wish that I could own a weapon of self-defense so no one will shoot me.

Why the 10th in particular?

The 2nd overrides the 10th when it comes to guns, at least the 2nd Amendment is what gun advocates call upon to note that the right to guns is specifically Constitutionally protected.

edit: But this would be in regards to outright banning all weapons, which would need Constitutional amendments; no one's going to really try that. Gun control goes around that by only restricting certain aspects.

Because the 10th is concerned with states rights. I'm not talking about banning guns, only adding bureaucratic processes like waiting periods and background checks.

Feds cannot force states to implement these measures b/c of the tenth.

Fair enough then. Thought the angle was banning, hence the part I added at the end.

I do agree with Kurk that we need some sort of mass-gun-law.

It was Robtard and I talking years ago about this topic.

There's no reason to have a better Federal standard for gun laws. Let the states choose to implement more strict gun control laws if they desire as long as it does not unreasonably infringe upon 2nd Amendment rights.

For instance: conceal carry should have a basic requirement. Open Carry can either be allowed with regulations or outright banned by state.

Standard background checks and mental health requirements (which would require a universal healthcare system with a single healthcare system database to get checks done from) is another big item. That would have prevented the Texas Church shooter dude from getting a gun.

It takes a lot more bottle to kill someone with a knife. Ban guns.

One dead, 10 injured in Odessa shooting

Um bro, I see only one person dead. I'm told this doesn't fit the definition of mass shooting. Quick edit your post and then post about this in a different thread. It does not belong in a thread about mass shootings since it apparently is not a mass shooting.

Just because Putinbot has violated the rules multiple times...you think this warrants him being banned?

That is cray cray!

5 dead, 20 injured now

Trump save us

Now you can call it a mass shooting, you got lucky.

How can Trump save us? I'm assuming he is to blame(a bad thing happened, so he will be blamed)

So seems this latest shooting all began cuz the guy was fired. We should make firings illegal if it will even save one life.

Beto O'Rourke campaign sells profane T-shirts to support gun control

They are losing their minds.

Leftists: if you ban abortions people will just get them illegally

Also leftists: ban guns

What's more ridiculous? Being offended by a t-shirt or being offended by a hat?

What about them is triggering you?

*shrugs* I don't care about if people wanna call it profane. Yes the language is profane, but I am not personally offended.

Does seem like Beto has gone a little cray cray cuz the shirt comes off as deranged.

And of course my main point was the talking points about guns rarely seem to apply to other things. People who want abortions will just get them illegally if we take away the ability to get them legally. People who want guns will somehow not get them illegally if we take away all guns.

Or: more gun regulation is worth it if it even saves one life. A border wall is not worth it if it even saves one life.

😆 😆

Wait so abortions are good and guns are bad?

I live in a free country. Both are legal and should be used responsibly.
