I think the crux would be forcing a mental health check prior to every gun purchase. Do this, I believe these mass shootings would be all but eliminated while at the same time not really affecting normal gun owning citizens because they would pass said check.

In the case of this shooter there is was clear evidence of mental instability and he was even reported to the FBI, I am also reading that over a 7 year period police came over to his house 39 times.

If Americans agree that mentally unstable people should not have access to firearms then there should be a check.

The FBI has said they didn't even follow protocol with this. So, another ball dropped by them.

I've seen Andrew Neil of the BBC saying it wasn't 18 and was actually 6 and they're the biggest news broadcaster on earth so yes.
