Dragon Ball Super: Broly - Discussion Thread

Started by Ridley_Prime64 pages

Super is often given the edge versus GT for at least trying to give others besides Goku good treatment, and for some it actually worked, along with the world building and at least having some ambition. GT was just "Goku Time"... But eh, opinions.

I still cant get over how awesome the animation is on Broly's genkidama attack....

Im glad they kept the whole concept of the green sphere thing showing when he is about to fire an energy Ball...

The secondary crew of Super is fun enough but the plot is just _ss.

Mobile was ass and made me accidentally submit reply before I had finished typing the damn post. Fair enough though.

Other than that, I guess the 3rd/final trailer did restore some faith in the new Broly's portrayal for me.

Is this movie going to be subbed or dubbed?
Subbed at first. Dubbed shortly thereafter.

So I watched DB and Z (and unfortunately GT) when I was younger. I've also watched the movies that have come out the past few years, and have friends who have watched Super. I've also watched vids of the odd fight from super on youtube, but nothing major. Except I randomly stumbled across a 3 minute clip of Goku, Frieza, 17 and Jiren all fighting and watched it, then realized it's probably the last fight in the series, lol...

Is it worth watching Super knowing that it ends like that? Could I still be emotionally invested?

For what it's worth, the DBS anime is slated to resume sometime next year(the manga will be moving past the ToP next month as well.) So essentially all you saw was a clip from the final battle of the most recent season.

Regardless, I'd definitely watch the ToP arc for sure. DBS as a whole has been extremely hit-or-miss, but the ToP itself was pretty damn good all around.

Broly doesn't want to fight, confirmed redemption.
goku also says he can tell Broly's not a bad guy.

Broly isnt going to be evil in this which is a cool concept, but i also cant imagine him surviving this movie either. someone that powerful just roaming around isnt gonna fly unless they do broly sidestories or we.

this movie is visually stunning, but did Broly actually do anything in the trailer beyond what jiren could do?

As much as I'd like to see Freeza death beam Broly and Chelye after she calms him down, I could also definitely see Toriyama/Toei allowing for Broly's return beyond this film. After all, Broly's mere existence in the canon DBU would keep a lot of fans following the series. /shrug

No, nothing.

Granted Broly appeared to be ragdolling SSG Goku/Vegeta in his base state, which is absolutely ridiculous... But Jiren was ragdolling SSB+KKx20 Goku without even powering up, so... /shrug

yeah makes sense. especially ith more DB stuff on the horizon.

Dont think Jiren should be used as an indication of any character. He was a walking plot. Broly is amazing.

Things Carver would say 9,001.

Would you lick the scars on his chest?

A few more thoughts after rewatching the trailer...

Broly appears to not only be ragdolling SSG Goku and Vegeta in his base form, but he appears to be doing so with his collar on... So not only is it his base form, but it's his heavily suppressed base form to boot. Crazy.

I'm also wondering if FPSSJ Broly will only appear in response to Gogeta, given that his Anger and regular SSJ forms seem to stomping SSB Goku and Vegeta without much difficulty..?

Was thinking, you know how Jiren had infinite potential?

That makes him more like Universe 13's Gohan, then it does Goku.

Imagine if the plot thread left for Gohan reawakening his potential, is picked up down the line. Even at this movie?

Say, Gohan's sparring with MUi Goku, and Jiren is visiting. Goku seems to easily win, but Jiren claims he was actually struggling more then he let on, and wants to test Gohans strength for himself. A senzu later, and they have a quick sparring match, where Jiren proclaims Gohan is nearly as strong as he is already.

Let Goku keep a half step ahead by perfecting MUI and other skills, and Gohan can become the god of strength.

Gohan's a lost cause, but it's the thought that counts I guess.

Start with the Goku Black arc though.

You whored yourself out for Jiren during the ToP, but now that he's yesterday's news, you talk about him like that? So Carver.

carv will be wearing a Broly avy/sig after this movie is released, and hyper-wanking him like there's no tomorrow. Mark my words.

"Jiren was a walking plot, you say? Well Broly SMASHES walking plots!!!"

how many forms is Broly supposed to have in this?

Four.

1. His 'normal' form:

2. His 'anger' form:

3. His 'SSJ' form:

4. His 'FPSSJ' form:

All these forms have been shown in the trailers as well.

I love how Broly anger form is buffer than his ssj form. Looks accurate tho

Tbh this Broly looks 50 times more scary then OG Broly judging by the few seconds he was shown in FP Mode.
