Not sure what the controversy is about regarding votes. All the people voting non-Plagueis or non-Valk get the option to tell us who they think wins out of the top 2. So you might be unsure between Mace vs Plagueis but think both are better than Valk, and so when it comes to last two, we see if the majority of the forum really does think Valk is better or if the majority think he's inferior to the runner up.
Valk is actually benefiting from having a dedicated following who will vote for him no matter what, whereas there are some more free-thinkers who consider less common characters like Unuthul who are splitting up Plagueis' potential votes. It was a good rule on Ant's part.

Problem is that nobody has been able to reconcile the arguments of Darth Plagueis having these COSMIC-SCALE EFFECTS with his reluctance to challenge the Jedi Order out in the open. The novel itself is very clear in its message that neither Palpatine and nor Darth Plagueis - even in unison - were willing to challenge the Jedi Order out in the open due to fear of being annihilated, Sith imperative notwithstanding. Yet, we are supposed to believe that Darth Plagueis has godlike hax up his sleeve.

The arguments in favor of Darth Plagueis have been shot down time-and-again but Sheevites refuse to budge.
Sheevites are just like a group known as "9/11 Truthers" which is trying to promote the narrative that 9/11 was an inside job. You cannot reason with these people.
