Once Ewing got his grubby mitts on Carol is when she seemed to change in power. Then Bendis followed suit. Then even Ewing was like "woah, is that the type of message I'm trying to send? I better dial this back."
Under Ewing she's more powerful than Blue Marvel. Bendis Ms Marvel is more powerful.
Anything before that was a seemingly weaker form.
I don't put much stock into the Iron Man thing. In that same dumb arc, Tony got smacked around by Karnak and Black Panther, who restrained him somehow.

It's not the "prepped" suit, but if he is that shitty normally, it's totally possible his amped suit is barely Carol level, and she absorbs energy, making her a bit problematic for him. Also, Bendis.
Outside of this, she punched an already weakened and battered Thanos, while being amped by Blue Marvel. And split an asteroid. I'm just not seeing the upgrades here tbh. We could argue a mild increase to her base strength before absorbing anything I guess.
As for Barda, if we wanted to explore a case for Carol, I think it would hinge upon her ranged abilities. If she really pours on the ranged energy assault like against Tony at times, she might make the fight competitive.

That was when she was more feminine and had longer hair. She's the reverse Sampson. Before, she needed large amounts of energy to push her into top tier, like a Nuke or a black hole/white hole (Aka Binary), but now she's walking around at Top Tier levels apparently.
I think the more of a lesbian she becomes, the greater she grows in power.
And Hulk could easily dust Barda in hand to hand like that on a good day so it's not really relevant.
