The movie is indeed glorious, easily the best movie in the MCU so far.
The only real objection i have is
Spoiler:
that they didn't show Xandar's decimation and how Thanos acquired the power stone; seems like a pretty big thing to leave out considering this movie is based on Thanos' quest to obtain the stones. I heard that they also cut out Thanos' backstory, it would have been cool to see it.I also applaud them for having the guts to end it with the iconic snap moment. It's a ballsy move which is sure to be a subject of controversy.
So the post-credits scene...
Spoiler:
Confirmed to be teasing Captain Marvel(Carol)... And here's what Kevin Feige had to say about her: "she is the MCU's most powerful hero by far... If you had the collector cards of the Marvel characters and you could see the power levels, she would be off the charts compared to anyone that we've previously introduced in a film."Wow. #MCUMatriarchy
Also going to repost this here, because I didn't realize this thread was a thing yesterday...
Spoiler:
First off, great film. Possibly my favorite MCU film to date... They crammed a shit-ton of story into this film, but they did so very cohesively.Thanos taking a steaming shit on Hulk in h2h right at the opening was great. That said, I thought it was a copout to keep Hulk out of the REST of the film. Didn't care for that.
Really liked how the Black Order was portrayed overall. Ebony Maw was uber AF.
I liked the dynamic between Thanos and Gamora. In fact, Thanos' overall characterization was great imo.
One of the strangest parts for me was Red Skull... Wtf has he become? He came of like some sort of quasi-omniscient entity now.
Thor getting Stormbreaker instead of Jarnbjorn? Meh.
All the Avengers were given their proper respect(except Hulk.)
As for Thanos motivations: he just wants to help bring balance to the universe by destroying half of its populace? Felt like changing his motivations like that was a HUGE missed opportunity to tease some of Marvel's higher-end abstract beings. As everyone knows: in the comics Thanos' ONLY motivation for wiping out the universe was to appease Mistress Death... They shouldn't have changed that, imo.
Doctor Strange [obviously] foresaw EVERYTHING that is going to happen beyond Thanos snapping-away half of existence, which is why allowing him to obtain all the gems was a necessary evil in the greater scheme of things.
I feel like the stage is now set for "Adam"(and/or Nebula) to enter the fray, usurp the IG from Thanos, undo all the damage he has caused, and perhaps split up the gems again... Because obviously his antics aren't going to stick long term, lol.

BS
You can argue that a more character-centric film like BP is more your style. But in any conceivable terms, this was one of the more ambitious movies in history in terms of its scope, and the sheer volume of characters and groundwork that was laid for it in previous years. When Avengers 1 came out, there was a breathtaking element to it, simply due to the fact that they had pulled off something that most didn't think was possible to do well. While that particular lightning can only be bottled once or twice, AIW hit that same note for me.
Anything negative I'd have to say about it would be picking nits. It was glorious, and I can't wait until next year's installment.

One of the best things about IW, imo, is that it didn't need to be character-centric for the most part because everyone has been built up already and fleshed out.
Spoiler:
Bar Thanos at least, and he got his few moments of exploration imo. You could almost say that this is HIS movie, in a sense.

The fact that
Spoiler:seems a bit over the top.
Carol is going to be VASTLY more powerful than Hulk, Thor, and possibly even Odin if you take Kevin Feige's statement literally
But hey, that's the social climate these days, so it shouldn't be too surprising I suppose. /shrug

They desperately want their
Spoiler:
Wonder Woman. Badly. They just either don't have, or don't have the rights to, the character that COULD be the one. And they aren't going to build up Gamora or Mantis now.
As someone who really liked IW and doesn't expect to see
Spoiler:have the role they had in the comic, I'm hoping they don't drop the ball with the finale.
