Spoiler:
Can't blame me for wanting Ms. Marvel/Warbird instead of Captain Marvel, though.

That's just NOT Carol Danvers.

The fact that

Carol is going to be VASTLY more powerful than Hulk, Thor, and possibly even Odin if you take Kevin Feige's statement literally
seems a bit over the top.

But hey, that's the social climate these days, so it shouldn't be too surprising I suppose. /shrug

Regarding what you said on your spoiler tag

Spoiler:
Carol will be incredible strong at her first introduction, a lot like how vision was introduced. Yet, 1 movie later, he became a punching bag

Wonder Woman. Badly. They just either don't have, or don't have the rights to, the character that COULD be the one. And they aren't going to build up Gamora or Mantis now.

As someone who really liked IW and doesn't expect to see

Adam Warlock or Nebula
have the role they had in the comic, I'm hoping they don't drop the ball with the finale.

You meant figuratively, I hope.

of course, I hope he figuratively drops his pants, forces her down to her knees and shoves his long big purple cock deep down her throat and suffocates her.

Lots of semen will be coming out of her nose. Can't wait.

When Red Skull appeared. It was a genuine woah moment for me....

I genuinely wonder where Marvel are going with this, tbh.

oh yeah that moment was completely out if left field. It was awesome though.

Spoiler:
Regarding Red Skull, they might not take it anywhere, tbh. It might have just been a cool throwaway reference for fans. I was halfways expecting Warlock bc of his connection to the Soul Gem, but they didn't introduce him soon enough and would have had to explain a LOT if he just showed up, so I get it.

I also like the implication that Red Skull loved nothing, so he couldn't possess the Soul Gem. Nice character moment for Thanos as well.

Other stuff:
- Not freaking out too much over Carol becoming a SJW proxy. Cap/Tony/Thor have to be at the center of this. If she's some extra muscle that shows up Thor in a scene or something, w/e. As long as she doesn't stupidly solo Thanos Superman/Steppenwolf style, I think we'll be fine.
- Pete's death hit me pretty hard. Yeah, I know it's all being rolled back in the next one. But his last few lines were appropriately tragic.
- I called that they'd end it on the "death snap" and thought it was a nice ending for this installment.
- We have Carol coming out of the woodwork, Hulk's inevitable return, Hawkeye doing...something?, the equally inevitable scene where someone brings back all the dead heroes and they join in the fight again. Some epic moments in store for the next one.
- Tony had nothing special hidden for Thanos. I thought Strange was the most interesting from a tactical standpoint, and I'm hoping the mindf*ck Thanos has done on Stark leads to an EPIC plan from Tony in the next one.

Spoiler:
I actually think they won't but yeah nice reference.

He very well could have, the problem was he was alone and couldn't throw it/him/her down the cliff anyway, but yeah the implication certainly went into that direction, he was a hardcore Nazi at last.

The weird thing was he seemed to have the powers of the Soul Gem anyway since he knew things about Thanos and Gamora without ever meeting them IIRC.

Anybody have any thoughts on

Spoiler:
Thanos telling Stark that he's not the only one cursed with knowledge?

This would be the first MAJOR mistake of the mcu.

Spoiler:
I want teamwork and plans winning the day in Marvel...not deus ex messiahs
Im nervous she could ruin everything.

After reading Galan's spoiler, I don't even want to watch this right now.

I'll wait for it to play out in future films and hopefully it won't be as bad as I'm thinking it will be.

Also, I don't really know what to say to people who don't enjoy it (and the majority here seem to love it). Taste is subjective, and no one's "wrong" for their opinion. And you can find fault with anything if you try hard enough. But if IW doesn't give you at least a semi-hard nerd erection, what are you in this hobby for?

Okay so:Not as good as I thought. It's probably because I overhyped it in my head but...

The bad:

Spoiler:
Thanos should have had his own movie to gather any of the gems that weren't on Earth. There was a lot of time wasted in my opinion, and that could have been Guardians 3. Also, in a movie as packed as this one, how you gonna give Peter Dinklage that much screen time? Captain America could have used more time, not giving Eitri, a character 99% of the movie goers have never heard of, that much. WAYYY too many convenient moments for the heroes. Thanos should have personally killed Thor on that ship, leaving him alive was absurd. He might as well have lowered him into a tank full of lazer sharks. Thanos had weird motivations, it made him feel like some kind of anti hero, when he's definitely a sociopath who enjoys killing. Also, let's be honest, we'd have all preferred to see Thanos beat heroes to death more than watching them turn to ash.

The good:

Spoiler:
The first 15-20 minutes or so were probably the most epic in Marvel history. Thanos felt inevitable. Unstoppable. The ambient was perfect, with just enough marvel quip with the dark atmosphere expected from Thanos. Also Thanos raping the Hulk will be watched an obscene amount of time by me later. The entrances were also epic, Captain America, Thor with Stormbreaker and Iron Man in that order were amazing. Also the chemistry between Dr. Strange and Tony was really good, it's about what I expected from them when they'd meet. And to add even more to that, the acting in general was very god on all accounts 👆

Solid movie, not what I expected is all.

Just saw it, second favourite movie after Winter Soldier but this came really close to topping it.

Definitely won't happen.

Spoiler:
Carol is female; Vision is male. That makes all the difference in the current matriarchy, tbh.

Wish I were joking. ermm

You should. It's a great film, tbh.

2nd viewing...

#1 in top 5 mcu.

Very very comicbooky yet done so well Imo. Gotta give credit to that brother duo on handling the huge amount of characters, complete with their own egos and storylines. Great mix of levity and gravity. Whew... Just an awesome film.

Random thoughts off the top of my head:

Spoiler:
-As a spectacle, the movie is amazing. Huge, great, sweeping parts that really get across how big a deal it is. You actually feel like the universe is at stake.
-The fight scenes are almost all awesome. I felt like the power levels of the Children of Thanos were a bit wonky, especially Corvus and Proxima, but it didn't hurt the movie too much for me. PIS is to be expected.
-Dat Vision nerf though. He got smacked around a fair bit even accounting for the whole "no more phasing" thing.
-Thanos himself is great, imo. His reasoning for what he's doing doesn't really stand up to scrutiny, but I really don't think it's supposed to. He's not Magneto. You're not supposed to side with him, and at no point does the movie try to make you take said side. His reasoning just has to make sense to HIM, and I think it does. I do wish they'd given him a bit more of a reasoning like they did in Infinity Gauntlet, sure, but for the most part it worked I thought. As much as I loathe the wanking the "a villain needs to be the hero in his own story" trope, in this movie it makes sense, and is executed well. He's a well-constructed character, and one of only three or four Marvel villains I really liked. He actually felt like a threat to the heroes. He's good. As is his CGI. He's animated beautifully and looks like Brolin enough to be noticeable. I don't dig the art design, but Starlord commented on it enough that I don't mind.
-I really feel like they missed a beat by not having more of Doctor Strange before this movie. At the end of Doctor Strange he's using energy whips and shields. Impressive sure, but not exactly something that comes with great variety. In Ragnarok we see that he's come along a bit, but I would have liked to see another appearance, even as a cameo, showing us the point between THAT and the guy that briefly had a "transmute-off" with Thanos. And with Strange being easily the most visually interesting hero power-wise, the more of him the better.
-Character wise, I was glad to see that guys like Starlord and Strange got to banter with Tony without getting lost in the shuffle. They had nice scenes, and even Wong, for as little as we got of him, actually felt like he played a part that wasn't just a random background cameo.
-Not nearly enough Cap, but he got one of the best scenes in the movie with "we don't trade lives". I'm guessing he'll be huge in part 2.
-I hope someone sciency shuts up Shuri in part 2. That Banner line made me cringe a bit.
-The tone of the movie is better than I had expected. Comedy was kept mostly to primarily-GOTG scenes (and Drax's line about Gamora made me legit lol), and the funniest lines were more like superhero banter than just bad attempts at humour rammed in to moments when they really didn't belong there. The Russos have actually improved since Civil War, which I like.

Predictions for part 2? Loki dead, Vision rebuilt and alive (sans gem). No ****ing idea about Gamora, though if she does come back, I fully expect her to have the role Nebula had in Infinity Gauntlet.

It's ok. I'll loan some of my leftover April character allotment to Pr. Damborg didn't like the film, though, so he gets no quarter.

And for what it's worth, 👆 to Pr's assessment. The tone was spot-on. The quips weren't cringey and there was a definite gravitas to the proceedings despite the comic book craziness of the plot.
