I know there is more to it than that (daddy/son feelings, Palp wanting a new apprentice) but still was silly looking back at it.

I mean at least he was clearly self training for the few years in between films. He didnt just learn about the force and go beat Darth Vader like say Disney seems to think Rey can do.

Your not wrong about Rey. Thats why her and the other main characters are the worst part of the NT.

I might see this Friday, I’m almost worried to see it though because it’s the end of all of it...and they might phuck it up. Maybe I can pretend it doesn’t count as canon.

I'm going to a rock concert on friday. I'm gonna get drunk, then I'll watch a shitty cam rip of TRoS at 3 AM in the morning. That's the only way to watch Disney Star Wars as far as I'm concerned.

I'll be there on Wednesday night at midnight to watch it. My expectations are so low that I might actually enjoy it, but the other side of it is, I can get it over and done with and feel a sense of completion about it all.

I have no idea how people are still willing to give money to Disney after Bob Iger came out and said he wants to get rid of the old Star Wars fanbase. It's masochism

I like the fact that not every fat neck beard that mediates and studies the Jedi way can become a Jedi. Look at all the neck beard youtube videos of people acting like Jedi. Im sure they were crushed.
I like that only a small percentage of Chads could be Jedi.

All the other stuff was great. The Lore, the fights, Obi Wan, Mace, Dooku, Maul, Palpatine, Jango, the new planets, ships, squeaky clean environments like Coruscant (not everything has to be worn/lived in and in desert planets), background jedi, etc, etc.
I mean the OT had bad stuff as well. Besides Ewoks, we had Whiny and overly complaining Luke. Underwhelming saber fights, Luke thinking he is a Jedi master by training like 2 weeks max, when a Jedi apprentice usual becomes a Master no sooner than maybe late teens from training since a toddler. Boba comically dying, the god fuqing awful new singer/song in Jabas lair.

Anyhow ST is crap , mostly because of the characters being shit.

Edit - I'm so not looking forward to the new Star Wars movie so much that I will just look at the spoilers. Something I would not do to the PT movies. I avoided spoilers like the plague. The only time I spoil movies is if I have an interest in the story but thing the movie is too much garbage to waste time watching it.

I don’t understand. This could have been done so well, and acted as a bridge to new fans. Solo flopped for a reason. All school SW fans sustained the Universe for decades between movies. SW’s staying power was a byproduct of hardcore fans. The SW wiki is the most visited wiki in the world for a reason.

Franchise by committee will never last. They took the most valuable IP in Hollywood and shit on it. It’s astounding how arrogant some people in Hollywood are. Hope this movie crashes and burns.

It's like Disney just doesn't get that the benefit of buying a franchise like Star Wars is that it comes with a built in fanbase. TFA made over 2 billion because fans were craving more Star Wars, and somehow they managed to chase much of us away i just 4 years. Either Bob Iger is an idiot or they just hate money.

I like JJ’s bold new direction of re-sodomising Luke Skywalker and Star Wars in general.

Big surprise. At least i hope now we dont see any of these shit characters in the future.
Now maybe they can focus on not making the same mistakes going forward with better people in charge of the property. Because having the right people making SW content is like night and day.

Wouldn't surprise me if Lucas's version of Rey which was Kira and alot of the other character's were better in his idea's for episode 7,8,9.

At the very least, Lucas had a general outline for the trilogy so it wouldn't be a slapdash trilogy like we ended up getting.
