Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019)

175 million OW... Thats on par with Civil War, but By far the lowest of this trilogy.

So unless this ends up having really good legs, it will be a case of each film in this trilogy earned less and less. Unlike say Avengers where it started off huge and then just got bigger and bigger.

We own three theaters here in Washington state, and as of sunday the decline in audience has already started. This movie is set to fall behind The Last Jedi in revenue it seems. Its tanking in asia and especially china. Not doing so hot in Europe either. We will know by the end of next week what the future has in store for this franchise.

Atrocious. This may not make over a billion dollars now. That's less than half of what TFA made...

Lost half a fanbase Kathleen Kennedy has. How embarrassing. How embarrassing.

What happened to all the people that have been defending this series for years?

The Russian trolls got them. RIP. 🙁

Thank you

My biggest pet peave with the movie was

Spoiler:
when all the dead jedi were giving rey a pep talk, anakin says "you must bring balance to the force, like I did." Excuse me anakin, but what did you do? The galaxy is still under heavy oppression and damaged by war, the sixth are still around in droves, apparently, and the emperor is still popping planets like pimples. You can't call back to previous heroics in the same movie you invalidate every last one of them

Spoiler:
Aanakin brought balance to the force by getting rid of the Sith. He was one of them. The Emperor was the other.

Unfortunately, shitty writing that clearly indicates a lack of understanding of the fundemtenals of Lucas' writing resulted in Anaking telling Rey to bring balance to the force...which was already brought...because the balance wasn't brought to the force because...they undid all the plot from episodes 1-6 with shitty writing.

You can't complain about the new movies causing problems in the OT. The OT was written long before the ST with a story wrap-up already happening. The problem with the plot hole you outlined is self-contained within the ST because of their shitty writing.

If Kennedy fails, they'll just shutter future movies, instead of passing them off to someone else. Seems to be how Hollywood works, they put all their eggs in one basket because they feel it's a sure thing, and if they're wrong they just stop trying, because lack of a sure thing brings risk.

So is this movie bad because of TLJ? And is TLJ still the worst star wars film?

I wouldn't say it's bad, but it definitely could've been better if Johnson wasn't allowed anywhere near Star Wars, sure.

Yes. Easily.

this was the second dumbest SW film ever made. AotC retains its title imho.

What about TPM? 😉

Third place?

Kathleen Kennedy can still make money with The Mandalorian.

The mentally-retarded fans will still give their money to Kathleen Kennedy for The Mandalorian - truly wonderful the mind of a child is.

😂

Yoda lines are always fun. Even from AOTC.

Remember when Palpatines lines were always memorable?

I'm surprised by the number of people on here that don't think this movie was bad lol.

I thought the first half was ok

Maybe but was really dumb to retcon everything he did.

And Abrams is the one who started out this trilogy like ANH then ended out like

Spoiler:
ROTJ. Just a completely pointless 360

And if Abrams directed all 3, I honestly shudder at the idea that his Episode 8 would have ended with

Spoiler:
Palpatine telling Rey that he is her Grandfather
then Rey screaming NOOOOO

Ughh

He would have done it as well.

Yea, they should have let Rian Johnson make all three.

There's still a chance he'll make the next one... 🙁
