Compare the Harry Potter films just to the first Star Wars trilogy.

Star Wars WITHOUT a doubt. Star Wars is a classic!!!

Harry Potter is good, but can't compare it with a gun like SW.

Both are classics but Star Wars came out a long time ago but that is not what the thread is even about. It is about what you like more and why not what had more of a cultural impact. If you cannot even answer the thread properly just read in silence.

Which series is better and why? No Fb, no prequels, and no Disney Star Wars.

Did you even read what you wrote? Where does it say that this thread doesn't concern cultural impact!?

Saying it is a classic tells me nothing about why you prefer it. It just says something vague without any specificity. Please, just log out. Your intellectual shortcomings are a little too much to bear.

If that is your reason then you just want to fit in because the collective hive mind of society decided this as your reason. So you are just a popularity whore. Explains a lot.

Type correctly Quan! I know you are always drunk because you want to forget your pityful life, but please!!!!

No one respects you son! Doesn't mean the same apply for others 😂

More pitiful spelling and other immature nonsense. Your great reason for liking a film is because others do.

You conceded the thread when you failed to address the topic many posts ago. You like kids films. Try to be a man about it in the future, boy.

Potter won the votes back in 2011 on this site. Harry>Luke on this poll.

2011?

And im sure LOTR would have beaten both back in 2002.

Now would be a better time for a popular vote. That said, doesnt seem like Disney Star Wars has swept in a new generation of fans. So any vote would basically be older Star Wars fans vs Younger HP fans.

This was when the potter franchise was hot and the ot films were out for decades. We both know the acting and deep ness of the characters blow Star Wars ot off the map.

TFA made 2 billion so quit forgetting Disney has made a ton of scratch. Disney has made me a huge fan not the overrated Ot film trilogies.

I prefer OT.

I haven't seen the HP films in some time and was going to rewatch them recently but they then all got removed from HBO. From what I remember about HP the films are pretty uneven. There are a couple that are very good, the third one, and I remember Deathly Hollows Part 2 being great, the rest range from being mediocre to simply pretty good.

I do like how the HP films mature and darken as they go. I also remember the last film being much darker and heavier than anything in the Star Wars franchise, I was really surprised at how serious and how well they achieved the "everything is on the line" mood of that last movie. I wasn't terribly invested in the series but I did care about what was going on in the last one.

I think Harry Potter's premise is probably more creative than Star Wars, which is a very standard hero's journey story, with a lot of tropes taken from LotR as far as how the story flows. However Star Wars is much more unique as far as aesthetics goes.

I also think Darth Vader is a much better villain. Voldemorte had a lot of potential but I think they kinda screwed him up in the films because there are long portions - like multiple movies - where his presence is just non existant and I almost forgot about him for a while. That said when he did come into play later he was a decent enough villain.

The OT is more focused, which I guess should be expected since it's only 3 movies instead of 7 or whatever, but still I think it gives an overall better experience.

All that said, the Lord of the Rings trilogy is better than both of them, by a pretty significant margin, imo.

See guys take notes because despite Bf and my preferences being different he articulates his points so well I respect them.

Bf you just gave me another idea you lovable son of a gun.
