That was before Superman was shown Doomsday killing Lois. Rucka straight up said that Diana only had a chance due to Superman fighting like a moron.

He was right next to the sun, so he was more powerful than he was before. The kryptonite did nothing, he didn't even give it pause or notice it, he wasn't weakened when he punched Diana from the sun all the way to earth
Except the kryptonite was glowing and even a brief exposure can kill Superman while he was sun amped explicitly. Here he wasn't.
