My biggest gripe with Marvel is how they lumped in all time travel with "What If's". Thor's The Reigning doesn't count for 616 Thor, even thought Thor remembers actually doing all that stuff.

In DC you can take Rock of Ages and actually apply the feats to mainstream Darkseid or Orion. Orion's "Genesis Box", for example, that reset the multiverse without Darkseid's taint, 100% canon.
