It didn't say he scanned entire Galaxies FYI... it just said he looked Galaxies away. The ft here is him reading chess books in 7 minutes, all of them.

Jon was searching if there is any sign of Superman as far as he could. I.E he was scanning the area that he can see( Galaxies range) 🙂

He scanned the range that his vision can reach in order to find any sigh of his father. I.E, He was doing a spot-by-spot search to the galaxies, The same way a normal people will do when they are looking for something
