But to be fair... the Sinister of old, although a great character, was never such a developed personality that he could be written as anything other than a mega villain. He was a great villain but ultimately one-note. How do you take that person and make them a regular fixture in a political drama (ie the Quiet Council of Krakoa)? The solution seems to be to (really, really) play up the campy elements of Sinister in order to make him a bit more dynamic while preserving the over-the-top aspects about him that are arguably his core appeal.

And to be doubly fair, Sinister was very much a campy villain pre-Krakoa and his evolution into this characterization predates Hickman's X-Men. But, the Hickman team definitely ran with it, and it's now lasting past Hickman's tenure.

thinking more about it, I'd say it's the same direction that they're now taking with Cassandra Nova. Finding the camp while keeping the evil.

Disney does the same thing and I'd bet those movies are an inspiration for the writers. Sinister is sort of channeling Scar or Hades, while Cassandra Nova is absolutely Yzma.

I read Cassandra's dialogue in these Marauders issues and I hear it in Eartha Kitt's voice.

Interestingly enough, Black Adam is said to be 46000 years old.

So he took 46,000 years to learn a martial art that brings him up to Batman's level, who's been learning for......17 years (along with all the other skills he's been learning like lockpicking, multiple languages, escape artistry, forensic sciences etc etc.

How did he get that being an outreach ft? Did Superman go for the device first? Did Wonder Woman outreach Superman here? She's right beside a charging up Superman, gets to Amazo, wraps him up from the hand to the waist before Superman even budges...
