One of the best villains came from this show. Hopefully they bring it back after the books (and they don't screw up the writing)...

Oberon was awesome. Loved Macbeth as well.

Totally missed that, lol.

A retroactive thanks to Parm. 👆

😂 Can kill him with common Iron.
Oberon was weak to iron, but he still soaked an iron harpoon to the chest and recovered a few minutes later. /shrug

weren't they Disney originally? How did Disney let that slip?
Gargoyles is still very much a Disney property(their logo/brand is still on the cover), but I assume they just outsourced this comic line to Dynamite.

Similar to how Disney is now outsourcing some of the SW comics to Dark Horse again, instead of just Marvel.

So Thanos is on his way to becoming the supremes being of MCU.

This seems like a straight up ripoff of FC Darkseid.

Kind of thought Xanatos was uncharacteristically unprepared, tbh.

He should have known Iron was a major weakness, with Puck on his team. Lot of ways to exploit that, Iron filing bombs that leave a cloud of iron laced gas, snipers along every building, iron restraints as captured the Weird sisters.

Didn't even try it, he used conventional technology (Conventional by his universe standards).

I mean, imagine Lex Luthor or Batman going "Not this time. This time we don't bring the Kryptonite".

Would be about as shocking as Superman being self aware to prepare against Kryptonite, maybe bring a lead suit for those mysterious Batman meetings after a nasty argument. 🙂

I want to say that Xanatos only had an hour to prepare for Oberon's return, and Puck only told him about the iron weakness right after that. So he actually prepped quite well for what little time he had.

Was it about an hour? Yeah then, rigging up a bazillion generators to his force field was impressive if it happened that quick.

For a future attack, personally I'd fund iron church bells all throughout the city, rigged to go off on command.

Yeah, I just went back and checked the episode.

Oberon first arrives to take Xanatos' child. Then Oberon leaves, giving them 1 hour to say their goodbyes to the child. Then Puck tells Xanatos of Oberon's weakness to iron. Then Xanatos starts prepping.

While we're on the subject of Gargoyles, was Goliath suffering a Worf Effect as bad as I remember? Seemed like by season 2 he couldn't try stealing candy from a baby without ending up in a crumpled heap.

haven't watched this show in forever, but wasnt oberon weakened when they used the iron bell to drop him?

I've only got up to episode 2 of Gargoyles so far.

I am liking Demona.

He was.

He was also depowered though, "only" as strong as a child of Oberon (Like Puck, who reality warped the entire city and possibly planet)

Yes. For the purposes of sport, Oberon allowed his power to be reduced to those of a child of Avalon(so he was still immensely powerful relative to pretty much anyone else, but FAAAAR weaker than normal.)

But bear in mind that Oberon(at full power) is vastly more powerful than any of his children, including Odin, Puck, Anubis, Banshee, the Weird Sisters, etc... And some of his children(like Anubis and Puck) have the power to act on a global scale. Oberon is honestly an absolute beast.

Stay with it. The "City of Stone", "Avalon", and "The Gathering" arcs are particularly good.

Oh yeah, he carelessly froze Odin and Banshee (The mythical one) in their tracks mid argument.

Yep. The Eye of Odin(as an artifact) had some pretty uber feats in the series, and Odin himself(with both eyes) would have 2x that power... Yet Oberon handled him with a casual finger flick for the lulz.

Would have loved to see

Spoiler:
more of King Arthur. He had main character written all over him.

Agree. It's right up there with Batman TAS and X-Men TAS. It rarely missed, and still holds up to this day.

Many cartoons from that time were excellent, but those two def deserve to be mentioned first.

Huge relief, btw. Was afraid for a second you jerked off to Superman or F4 shows.

https://archive.org/details/gargoyles-1080p-ai-upscale

Someone tried AI upscaling the show.

Interesting as a curiosity, just to see how it came out.

Found a similar thing for Megas XLR, another stellar show from the early 2k's which never got an hd version.

I watched this show with my first two kids, the younger of the two had the leader one on a backpack this was 2001 maybe.

You actually remind me of Xanatos. 🙂
