Maybe the idea will be re-visited in that mini (DC keeps postponing it).

But other than that, no, it got forgotten like everything else. DC doesn't care about continuity, they just want to last long enough on the market to fill their wallets a bit... before Disney eventually consumes them whole.

Johns is the one who originally came up with the whole Joker=Gelos thing, iirc... So it's possible he might revisit the concept in this story.
