The aliens have a clear view of the black hole from the surface of their planet that dominates their sky when Surfer first arrives:
After Surfer does whatever he does, they see something more like a smaller shining star/sun that illuminates their sky:
I mean... how else would you "neutralize" a black hole from swallowing a planet anyway? Manipulating its nature so that it repels the planet instead of drawing it in? Or reverting it back to a normal star? Both feats are insane but I'd say the former might be a greater feat than the latter.
Moving the planet probably would've been easier but whatever Surfer does, he clearly directs his energies directly at the black hole. So that theory is out. The scope of what he did though is just unexpected.
