I watched Thunderbolts, it's actually relatively good, if you'd take out a bit of the retarded humor here and there it could have been great. By far the best of the new Marvel movies, even though thats not saying much.
Exactly 👆

Using the themes of self-isolation and depression but never diving into it maturely while insisting on self-deprecating humor and slapstick every minute or so to not make the film too serious?

"Oh, but in today's market... we still need teens and kids to watch our films so it can't be too depressing." Yeah, well, don't make the central theme of the film about depression and don't have a character shot in the head and killed within the first act. What? Murder is fine but god forbid you actually address depression?

No self-awareness. The theme of the film clashed terribly with the actual execution of it.

The first Iron Man came out in 2008. Maybe 17 years later, you'd think to start creating more mature films that would cater and resonate with the audience that grew up with them like Andor did with Star Wars.

But, no. Honestly, I like the characters in Thunderbolts because of the actors but I just hated the film.

Also, Andor's first season was the best piece of Star Wars media I've ever consumed. Exceeded all my expectations despite seeing so many clips here and there that spoiled the story. Didn't matter. Despite watching the most pivotal scenes in YouTube clips, when I watched the series from beginning to end, I was riveted.

About to watch season 2.

y'know, if cdtm didn't have mental illness. he would be a decent debator
the guy actually read a lot of comics and is decently knowledgeable on a lot of characters (including stuff outside of marvel and dc like anime/dragon ball etc), way more well versed than carver

too bad he went crazy. hope Todd is alright these days.

I watched one Andor clip where a police commissioner/captain is cynically explaining how bureaucracy works to his over-eager cadet/rookie/hotshot. Basically in the vein of, "Keep your head down and stay in your lane. You ain't the main character in whatever fairytale you think you live in, son."

I was very entertained. Hope there's more of that stuff when I get to watching it.

YouTube video Bruh, this S01E01 clip has nothing... yet everything to do with the plot of Andor. I had not realized that the writer, Tony Gilroy, also wrote the original Bourne trilogy, Michael Clayton, let alone the actual Rogue One film that clearly went through multiple directors/rewrites.

Without even finishing season 2, I am gushing over Andor because it deserves praise.

Other than The Mandalorian, it's the only thing worth a damn that Kathleen Kennedy presided over. Everyone says Rogue One was the best film so far during this modern Star Wars era but I kinda though it was a$$. Watching Andor now, I am 100% convinced that the Rogue One film went through multiple directors/rewrites in contravention of the Tony Gilroy authored script. And that if they just stuck with what Tony Gilroy originally authored without interference, it would've been even better. Maybe even an all-time great. Because Andor is just that good.

Who else has watched Andor and, without spoilers, where do you rank it among Star Wars media?

👆 Great stuff.

Definitely the best among Disney's shows/films, that's for sure.

cdtm was not banned due to mental illness. You only have to click on his profile to see the mod reasons. He was banned due to his repeated racist/homophobic posts.

So cdtm never went crazy. He just doubled down on that crap while trying to pretend to discuss comics.

But that's what you've done also. So instead of whitewashing cdtm or baiting/pretending like you never posted heinous racist garbage, etc., maybe just stfu and step carefully moving forward, yea?

I always try to temper my expectations but if the quality of Andor season 2 is anywhere close to the first season, I will consider Tony Gilroy to be the Star Wars GOAT.

Without spoilers: If you liked the first season, you'll definitely like season 2. The quality between seasons definitely stayed consistent, imo.

The overwhelming consensus seems to be that it is one of the best SW projects since ESB(arguably better, depending on your nostalgia-level), and I'd probably agree with that.

The dialogue is so, so good.

Most Star Wars writers seem to struggle with making characters seem three dimensional. Which is a problem in any writing, but in Star Wars specifically, dialogue tends to die on either end of the dichotomy of "slavishly paraphrasing the OT" vs "jarringly 'of the moment' (ie millennial/gen z slang and delivery)"

I think what makes Andor (and Rogue One, although more in set design than dialogue) so strong is that they get the eras and genres that Star Wars is based on, and they get that there's so much unexplored territory if you just draw from the same well.

That drone was so OP for the humans, if they ever get into it in a mass way. Completely removed the Yautja as a threat.

I think it would take too much for Saint to organize and upload all of those scans with one hand.

Can't believe nobody uploaded this.

As a huge fan of the original movie, I can't wait for this...

ok but what's up with the proportion of batman compare to the building and the demon, is he 15 feet tall?

how much is batman benching here? the middle plate says 500lbs, the smaller plates my guess are around 250 lbs, the bigger plate has got to be around 750 lbs

that's 1500x2 be my guess around 3000 lbs, let's be conservative and say he benched 2500lbs, since he has no spotters i would guess he is doing reps, so let at least 3-4 reps each set,

which street leveler do you think can replicate this feat?
