The energy was pushing him through time/space ... and he was accelerating to push back, more and more, until he didn't want to risk breaking time/space. I mean, Supes is the same guy who can run through time, so...it's quite plausible he can do that.

[this also has certain ramifications against trying to BFR Supes when he doesn't want to be....]

He was able to counter a temporal bomb designed specifically to push matter through time and space, by continuously increasing his speed. He only stopped increasing his speed when he was worried about timespace breaking to the point where he couldn't fix it.

Yep. He's been like that since day one in all honesty.

Now if he just created a new omniverse from scratch in the next issue, then yeah I'd call it an outlier. But pushing himself harder and harder in order to do what needs to be done literally defines who he is.
