Also depends what kind of smarts we're taking about... Because according to Reed himself, Tony has him beat in a few areas as well...Here Reed states that he is only 'fractionally' smarter than Tony where single tasks are concerned, but goes on to say that Tony is the smartest there is when multiple tasks need addressed simultaneously:
"Mister Stark, on the other hand, is this world's greatest multitasker..."

This is likely why Tony was able to school Reed at multiple games of chess simultaneously:

Reed later says that Tony is also the best builder there is. Period.:
"There's no one --absolutely NO ONE-- who can do the things he does. If we're talking about building, well, then we should be taking our best builder."

In fact, Tony hypothesized that the only reason Reed is fractionally smarter than himself is because Reed's powers allow him to 'cheat' and make his brain(and intellect) physically larger as it suits him:
Amazing post.

Yah. My top 5 are Reed, Doom, Pym, Stark, and Tchalla in roughly no order.
I struggle with Pym and Tchalla's placement. I also like to throw the High Evolutionary in there because he has some respectable feats as well although I think he may have used tech or something to advance his intelligence.

Racist.

That was arguably my favourite bit of dialogue in the entire run. I think Hickman has his issues with characterization, but I thought that was a brilliant bit of insight that makes a lot of sense.

Lol I'd love to hear the argument for him being top five
I was talking about Pym AND T'Challa, but I suppose it depends on the writer, really. Some actually write T'Challa as a genius on par with the others, and then some write him as just... Smarter than most of the people in the room, but not exactly exemplary.
I've consider Tchalla as sorta Doom-lite. He has decent tech (but he's no stark), decent knowledge of mysticism (but he's no strange), he's a decent strategist (but he's no reed), decent tactician (but he's no rogers). I mean he's awesome in his own but I wouldn't place him in a top five category. He's more a jack of all type character. And I can't recall any significant intellectual feats that place him in the ballpark as others he usually listed as being a peer to.

*sorry i meant Banner
Feats. Yea Pak has given him a push in the last couple of years. He also got wanked in Moon Girl's series by Cho with his Banner box creation. But the whole premise behind the Banner box is laughable, firstly because Banner isn't the smartest to begin with. But other than lip service and a few nods he hasn't really done anything like cure Galaxy is of his hunger, create time machines, etc. At least not on the same consistency and scale. But that's probably because he has a rage machine inside constantly plotting to get out

Each of the big five/ten is arguably the best in their own, personal field. I wouldn't put Banner up there at the very top, sure, but still, I would imagine that say, if Tony Stark had a genetics issue, he'd want to call up Beast/Xavier.
It's be a interesting arc to see them all compete

Haven't read Achewood in years. Everyone swore by it back in the day, along with Perry Bible Fellowship.
Very weird strip, about drinking, drug using furries, apparently. I think the appeal was you got the sense the author lived almost everything he was talking about, like driving high as hell.

The Illuminati has some of the smartest men in marvel in it. T’Challa, Bruce, Reed, Hank Mccoy.
Illuminati sucked. Bendis as usual was lazy in the backstory, created an unnecessary retcon and left other writers to fill the gaps. It had lot of potential but was meh imo
