The new IDW Transformers writing is... not good.

Cyclonus: *Crash's into building, takes out three foors*

"You wanted to talk?"

"Oh, hey Cyclonus, who we have no reason to trust and aren't questioning why you crashed into our psychiatrist. You need a doctor for that gunshot wound?"

"Hey guys, I heard an explosion outside. Did a bomb go off? Also anyone want coffee?"

More or less the tone. Big things happen, no one reacts much like normal people would, especially in peace time.

Check out this clip from what I can only assume is an Onion article I found online:

DE LA CRUZ: Bruce Wayne is the billionaire. He’s the richest man alive. So I thought, wouldn’t it be fun if his family was Chinese and from Hong Kong? That made it feel real. There’s been a big influx of wealthy Chinese people who moved from Hong Kong to Arcadia in Los Angeles, and that’s where my mom lives, I’m part-Chinese, my brother lives in Hong Kong, so I thought it would be great to put what I know into Bruce Wayne. I just wanted him to be a little bit more representative of my background and giving him an authentic family – Alfred is not just his butler but also his uncle, his gay uncle from Hong Kong. It gives it this fabulous Crazy Rich Asians sheen to it.
PITILLI: That breathes new life into the character, especially in today’s world since we’re living in the most diverse world we’ve probably ever lived in, so it’s more representative of Batman in 2020. And since he’s a teenager, I tried my best to put a little bit of myself into the character as well, channeling those feelings of being an adolescent and feeling like an outsider. I definitely wasn’t a billionaire, but oftentimes I felt very separated from everyone else around me.

Funniest thing I ever read. 😂 😆 😂

So instead of creating new and exiting characters, they choose to destroy establish ones instead?

DC bending over for that Chinese money.

..what? Do you think there is a chance in hell that DC is going to retcon Bruce Wayne’s race?

Everybody’s ready to get mad about stupid shit.

Is this just alternate cover artwork, or..?

Golgo drew it himself in these constrained times. He doesn't know how to draw hands.

Abhi is going to write it.

I think MrMind already mentioned this, but new comic releases have been postponed for *at least* the next 3 weeks, due to the COVID-19 pandemic... Which is pretty unprecedented. Not even the first and second World Wars shut the industry down like this.

I am surprised they can't shift it to online sales...surely it can be all done remotely?

That hurts retailers who stay open. Some have already denounced DC for a digital first policy.

how is this going to relate to bats? They aren’t that scary if you see them as food.

the comics companies are not making any money right now, they get most of their comic sales income from bookstores. right now is lockdown time, comic book stores are closed. most of their revenue are gone

if they still try to push digital issues out per week, people will just read it for free online, they not only will not make any money, but will lose money from keep their staff on the payrolls working

Yeah, it's actually surprising how many people still go to comic books stores and purchase physical copies.

Collectors gotta collect. It's the same reason real fans of Transformers buy toys, or gamers demand physical copies, and pay so much extra for super special editions.

But you're the only Transformers fan. ermm

Not for long, the way the comics are going.

Forget the SJW whining, I juat read something that's truely unforgivable.

This terrifying figure is Shockwave. Most people who only watched the cartoon know him as the Con Megatron left behind on Cybertron. Very loyal, very dry, kind of dorky.

In the comics, he was Megatrons rival. In fact, as of the fifth issue of the Marvel run, he usurped control of the Decepticons from Megatron, and essentially made him his slave. His reign was longer then Megs was, too.

His personality was like one part Freeza, one part Locutus of Borg. Just a schemer and cold badass to the bone.

This portrayal would stick into the Dreamwave run, and to an extent into the IDW. Until the reboot.

When this happened:

The current writer must be a massive Megatron fanboy.

At least it's noted that Shockwave was low on energon while Megs wasn't.

As a matter of fact, Megatron super charged on his factions entire stock of Energon, to the point where he was on pain from it.

That saves Shockwaves credibility to an extent. Even despite that, this is by far the most embarrassing moment for Shockwave in his entire comic book history. He was just punked out here.

It doesn't give much hope that this writer respects the character, or that we can expect much from him this run outside of Megatrons lackey.

All I've gotta say is:

Thank goodness for Manga.

None of the social crap, just good stories.

Or a lot of weirdness or hentai, but that's still better then SJW crap.
