Exodus - there was a 2-issue arc in the adjectiveless X-Men book, probably written by Mike Carey? Anyway, he had a beast showing there against Wolverine's X-Men and Generation Hope. Rogue even had to absorb Kid Gladiator's powerset, so she could contribute to the battle.

Yeah, the quips keep getting reposted to this day. They are overrated, the whole series is.

I liked Ellis better, but he didn't work on Astonishing for long.

Ellis "inherited" the Astonishing title after Whedon was done with it. Simone Bianchi on the art.

As for Vulcan, I'm not sure there is enough material.

You obviously must be familiar with Deadly Genesis.

I dunno, maybe War of Kings is worth checking out? Haven't read it myself, but the concept seemed cool.

I've read war of kings it was one of the first marvel events i read when I was in high school, after that I read annihilation

Would people be interested in a BZ tourney, where the only characters available were all animals? Thori, Toothgrinder, Krypto, Throg, Ch'p, that kinda thing?

Sun Eaters could, but we can have a cap on characters - Krypto/Throg being the cap.

One way I was thinking, was if all the contestants chose a character to throw into the pool, with the understanding that there's a good chance their opponent might get them if I then randomise the picks.

Should cut down on characters which are too broken.
